Update on the Celebration

You are welcome to drop in for 5 minutes or all afternoon.

The general theme is things Alison liked to do. We are going to try to have some of Alison's knitting and painting on display. We will be bringing some of Alison's favourite games like Quiddler, Brass, and Caylus. You are welcome to bring your own games. Please bring any crafts you would like to work on.

Memory Book

We will have a book for writing a memory about Alison rather than a traditional condolences book. Whether it is a silly, she got lost a block from her house, story, or an impressive fact like she learned Norwegian because it was fun, or just something that struck you like swimming at Lac Sam in October after the microburst, please come with a thought to add.

Photos

We are looking for more photos of Alison. Please send any you like to me or bring some to put in the memory book..

Potluck

We will be bringing drinks including coffee (if you don't trust us on the coffee, let us know and we will let you do it, instead, but you'll need to be there early). We have 2 slow cookers if you want to keep something warm. We will have serving spoons and the like. We've ordered 2 cakes from Stubbes. Please let us know if you are bringing something. Don't feel you have to bring anything. But do let us know by Saturday.

I'm sure I am forgetting something. If you have any questions please ask.

Alison was a very gifted and generous presence in the lives of those who knew her. I will always think of her sitting at the piano and sharing her music with us all. She will be deeply missed.

I was lucky enough to know Alison for 25 years and she was truly one of the best friends I could have had. Alison was patient, incredibly intelligent, insightful and compassionate. She was a truly wonderful person and I cannot believe she was taken from us so young. I will miss her always.

As a manager, I could not have asked for a more dedicated, professional, competent, and humane employee. As a friend, I have missed her daily presence, and will continue to miss her, greatly. Alison was witty, knowledgeable, enlightened and compassionate. She showed great strength through her struggle with cancer, from her ability to remain bright and cheery to her ability to empathize with others in difficult situations.

Enlightened leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology by as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused attention. Deepak Chopra

Alison was a leader, a shining example of the best of human kind faced with challenge.

My very deepest sympathies to her loved ones.

Adieu Alison!!! We will forever miss you at CFIA. You were a true professional, unassuming but yet very smart. Going out with you for lunch a few times during your fight with cancer gave me a lot of hope that we will soon see you at work again. You lived through your struggle with a smile and I am sure you left with a bigger smile on your face.May your soul forever rest in perfect peace!

Having worked with Allison, she was a sweetheart, bright and a very hard worker. Allison has left us much too young.

My heartfelt condolences to Alison's family.
I worked with Alison for several years at the CFIA. I will very much miss her wit, her smarts, and her talent... the photo I am attaching is of a painting Alison that did to contribute to the fundraising efforts of the hospice she visited in Ottawa. I feel very fortunate to have purchased it. I love how she captured the feeling of the flower reaching for its sun. It is how I imagine Alison today.

Alison was a gift to many around the art table. She made people comfortable with her laughter and her expressive face and eyes! She could give as good as she could get and there were some great exchanges between she and other guests. We miss her and send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. She will live on in our hearts.

Alison was a truly amazing person - funny, smart, warm and ever so talented. I learned so much in her presence, not the least of which was to live and grow every day of your life. I will miss her.

Alison's time with us at the Hospice Day program was such a joy - we loved her spirit, her engaging conversation, her ability to make superb water colour paintings, her way of finding humour in tough situations and her way of reaching out to others even when she was facing great challenges. I will remember her and the things she taught us. Condolences to her family and loved ones.

Alison was outstanding in so many ways, but above all she was bright, funny and wonderful company. I knew her for only a short time but she lit that time up

I worked closely with Alison for 6 years at CFIA and I learned what a wonderful and kind person she was. She and I had many conversations on various far flung topics and I do believe she had one of the most brilliant minds I have ever encountered. Her professionalism and knowledge in her work was second to none. She will be greatly missed. My sincerest sympathies go out to her family at this time.
