Allan Brooks

BROOKS, Allan Sean Peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the age of 59 years, after a courageous effort of battling cancer. He will always be remembered for his love, enormous strength, humour and his gentleness. Loving husband of Gloria Brooks (nee Carroll). Devoted and caring father to Sean and Kerri Brooks. Proud and loving grandfather to Savannagh Brooks. Son of the late Donald Brooks and Margaret Kingsmore. Brother of Lynn Breen and Michael Brooks. Also to his special family who he considered like his mom and dad Jimmy and Valda Brooks and their daughters who he considered like his sisters Deborah, Shirley, and little sis Kathy. To his pal Spike who will dearly miss him. Also cherished and loved by his father and mother-in-law Clifford and Shirley Carroll, sisters and brothers-in-law Madeline and David Colton, Sandra and Chris Hall, Joyce and Danny Latreille, Deborah and Karl Lundin, Eddy Carroll, John and Christine Carroll. Devoted to his many nieces and nephews Laura Dickson and Mike Olsen, Jason and Alex Roberge, Kim and Graham Smith, Sean and Kers Docherty, Jennifer and Brent Krieger, Ken and Manuella Lewis, Sonya, Tina and Courtney Latreille, Michael and Stacey Carroll, Megan and Katelin Carroll. Adored and respected by his great nieces and nephews Kendra, Hannah Darby and Nolan Smith, Justin Devin and Marissa Docherty, Rebecca and Riley Krieger, Joern and Jonathan Lewis, Kitrea Lundin. A visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Rd at Albion Rd. on Friday, August 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 685 Walkley Rd. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A very special thank you to all his friends (especially his golfing buddies) who have always been there and supported the family throughout this difficult time. Wish to also express our deep appreciation to all the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff at the Cancer Centre; 5th floor of the Ottawa General Hospital, who were so gentle, kind, and compassionate not only to Allan but to his wife during his treatments and his stay at the hospital.
