My regrets to Carolyn & Family. I've been reading the Stockman Grass farmer for about three years. I met Allan & Carolyn at three of the Grazing school classes I attended in 2015 & 2016. I'm a city boy, trying to learn to farm. Allan sure IS a neat man. We will all miss him!

I'm an almost 20 year subscriber to the Stockman Grass Farmer but never really did any farming. I told people that my hobby was reading about farming but really it was just reading Allan's writings. He made me a believer in the movement. Thanks Allan!

Great, intuitive, educational man Allan Nation. I plan to continue to read Stockman Grass Farmer, and hope we get more heritage foods, history of deep south cattle grazing, piney woods, economics articles as Allan wrote. Like Allan told in his writings of himself, I too worked out of Greenville, Mississippi, on river towboats, much longer than Allan stated he did. He has a rivermans' tribute.

A true inspiration to the moment of grassfed agriculture, he will be sorely missed.

I too was deeply saddened to read Allan had died. I was reading Allan's observations as I do each month and had a shock when I read the announcement at the end of the article. I still remember kitchen table conversations with Allan, Bud Williams, my dad, Joe and myself in the early stages of Bud's animal handling demonstrations, and the move to stress free animal handling. It also brings to mind the trip I took with Allan and Carolyn to Bernal, Mexico to visit the Galley brothers' sheep operation. He was a truly great friend and inspiration to us all who spent time with him. I will truly miss his great insight and "observations" each month. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carolyn and family.

Terribly saddened on Christmas Eve 2016. Sitting here in my favorite chair next the Christmas Tree, listening to my wife and children preparing our Christmas Eve feast and reading the newly delivered December Issue of The Stockman Grass Farmer, life seems perfect for the moment. Then, I come to the end of Allan's Observations and I read the shocking news of Allan's Death and the end of his chapter called life. The selfish part of me feels horrible that I won't have his insights,idea's and facts to consider each month. Then I realize how rough it must be to be sitting around the Christmas Tree in the Nation household this season. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your loss, I don't think I can say I knew Allan, but for the last 20 years I got to know him pretty well through his "Observations". I always made sure to read his column first. I realize now just how much Allan meant to me. Carolyn,stay strong, march on, keep you chin up and Allan will guide you as to what you need to do next.

I read w/much sadness of Alan's passing. I sat next to Alan on plane ride where he introduced me to purple cows. I was a young feed salesman at time &learned more from him than anywhere else. I'm now a grass farmer &am forever in his debt. He touched so many lives, and I only wish I would have thanked him more. I will miss his insight in every issue. May God bless Carolyn & family & Alans legacy of teaching us all to not be afraid of thinking outside the box.

I received my always-anticipated issue of the Stockman Grass Farmer today, and I was very sad and shocked to hear that Allan Nation had passed away. I have enjoyed reading his work since 1990, when I first started a small dairy. I would always share my magazine, once I devoured it, and my friends and I all will miss his valuable contributions. I believe Allan was a great man and did a tremendous amount to positively influence the future of agriculture in our country. My sincere condolences to all family members.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Allan's passing. I have been a subscriber of SGF for more than 20 years and what I have learned has changed the way I farm and view agriculture. The Allan's Obs column was always my first read each month. The health of our animals, soils and nation have been and will continue to be greatly improved as a result of his work. May God bless his family and all of us who have benefitted from his life.

Allen will be sorely missed. His influence in grassland agriculture has changed our world in a great way.

What an inspiration to all. Surprised and saddened to learn of his passing. He will be greatly missed!

Dear Carolyn,
I was greatly saddened to learn of Allan's passing. I considered Allan a friend having met the first time I hosted him in Alberta and a number of times after. He had a big influence in the grazing world in Alberta and once told me that Alberta was about number 3 or 4 in subscriptions among states and provinces!Please know he will missed here in Canada by many. Dear Carolyn and Family -- I feel as if I know you a little bit through Carolyn's column and Al's Obs in SGF. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Allan's death -- my hearts go out to you. I've been an SGF susbscriber for 15 years, and I am so excited to read each issue. Allan's personality, interests and enthusiasm always came through so strongly. I think that personal touch is what has made SGF special. He did very good work in his life, and I will really miss his perspective and his leadership.

I'm greatful to have met Allan, and to been guided by his teaching through schools, books, and of course Al's Obs!
I always enjoyed his knowledgeable, entertaining, caring, curious and inspiring presence!

Your loss was sadly and mournfully multiplied many times over by those of us that loved, respected and counted on him to provide guidance to so many over the years. His loss is a tragedy and he will be missed!

It was Allan Nation that introduced me to grass farming and who inspired me to get into beef farming at the tender age of 59. These were the first cows I ever owned and because of him and his writings, I have found much pleasure and meaning in my life. We are never too old to learn something new and to contribute to this world. Thank you Allan, SGF, and my sincere condolences to your family.

Oh,Carolyn...our hearts go out to you and yours as we share in your loss. Allan's incredible journey touched so many and added so much! His unique gift for stimulating and challenging creative thinking, delivered in his inimitable style, influenced countless readers and associates. We were privileged to be among them. Seems heaven is a lot greener these days!!

As I pored over a recent issue of SGF, Allan's vitality and, as always, his forward-looking perspectives were very clear. Hard to imagine a month without Al's Obs and his seemingly inexhaustible stream of ideas. I am so grateful for his work promoting a better way to farm; he made countless connections for all of us that have strengthened the ecosystem of grass farmers immeasurably.

Was just reading his work last night. He has had so much influence on how I think and farm. A giant in his field, his contributions can't be overstated.

So sad to hear this. His wisdom and insight certainly had an impact up here north of the border. Our thoughts are with his family.

I was truly saddened when I heard of your, and our loss. I have never been so taken with the continuous writings on all subjects as I have by Allan's. Please try to take comfort by the fact that many of us felt very close, and also feel a great gift has been removed from our temporal lives even though we never physically met.

Allan inspireerde ons vanaf 1992 toen we bij toeval de Stockman GrassFarmer ontdekten. Aan de hand daarvan hebben we onze bedrijfsvoering aangepast naar puur grassbased. Zijn heldere visie heeft altijd gezorgd voor inspiratie en nieuwe gedachten en wegen. Van harte gecondoleerd met dit grote verlies. Veel sterkte gewenst. I was so glad to finally be able to hear him speak at the Southern Indiana Grazing Conference last year. I've been a subscriber to his magazine for many, many years. My condolences to his family.

Allan has been a welcome guest in our home each month for many years though the pages of SGF. We will sincerely miss his observations and wisdom. We are grateful for the few times we have met him in person. Our prayers are with you. May you be sustained by your faith in this time of sorrow.

His "obs" were "read aloud" occasions at our house. What will we grass farmers do without him?

This man has been incredibly influential in our lives; can't hardly imagine life without him. Hope there is some way his fine work can continue. Kindest regards to Carolyn who we have met several times over the years. We feel bereft.
