Our family lost a wonderful and dear friend when Allan passed last month. We have nothing but good memories of those years of our families growing up together in Gold Beach, all the special times we spent together, and Al's incorporation of humor, intended or not, into so many of them. His parents raised him well -- even in the U.S. he was a proper English gentleman. Gold Beach was lucky to have him as part of their/our community for so many years.

When Allen first came to America My mom Halle picked him and his friend John up from the Portland airport. They stopped at a rest stop on the way to Salem and Allan was In awe of all the tall trees, and how green everything was. This is like a national park, He said. Piggly Wiggly also caught him by surprise, "this is blimey gigantic! ` He and John we´re like a comedy act of Monte python and the Beatles. Mom showed him off to all her bridge club. We all loved him immediately. my favorite memory is he him playing with the kids, he was just one of them. He surprised all of us nine months ago at Hank´s funeral, by giving a speech of how if he was on deserted island and could only pick one person to be with him it would be Hank. He admired his outdoor skills and loved him as a brother-in-law. I will miss him.

Allan was a great man, husband, father, friend and Rotarian. He had a fine sense of humor, and I loved his British accent. He will be missed in the Gold Beach community .
