On Thursday, May 29, 2003; beloved husband of the late Selma Wiener Berkman; beloved father of Barbara and Alan Ackerman, Susan and David Rahm, Richard and Toni Berkman, Helen and John Habbert and James and McKey Berkman; loving brother of Louis Berkman and the late Jack N. Berkman and Ceil Monheim; devoted grandfather of 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services at Rodef Shalom Temple, 4905 Fifth Ave. (at Morewood), on Sunday at 3:00 pm. Visitation 2 hours prior to services (1-3 pm). Interment West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation. Contributions may be made to Rodef Shalom Temple, 4905 Fifth Avenue, Pgh., PA 15213, American Jewish Committee, 2345 Murray Ave., Suite 210, Pgh., PA 15217 or Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, 803 Liberty Ave., Pgh., PA 15222. A wonderful man has left Pittsburgh a far greater place than it was when he arrived. His memory will be that of a man who loved his family, his city and his professional career and was extraordinary in all of his roles in life.
