It was a privilege to know Allen T. Eaton III. We met some 50 years ago in Columbia, SC and later continue contact after my being called to Pastor in McLean, VA and Washington DC. After his retirement, we would talk maybe twice a year. We are going to miss this great legal mind and may he rest in peace.

I met Allen T. Eaton, III just three and a half years ago, and I am certain that our meeting was not by chance. During my life I have come to realize that there is a purpose for every event and for every person you meet. Some you meet test you, some miss-use you, and some teach you good lessons. Most important to me are the ones who bring out the best in me, respect me, and accept me for who I am. Most important are people who I grow to really love. They are the precious ones. Real love, to me, is friendship that catches fire - through mutual understanding, respect, confidence, and sharing. Real love, to me, grows - through compassion, kindness, grace, and forgiving. It blossoms - with loyalty and kindness through good times and bad times. It settles for less than perfection, and makes generous allowances for human weaknesses. Real love listens without judging, and shares without comparing. I shared a deep and sincere friendship for three and a half years - with Allen T. Eaton III. I miss him sorely, and will never forget him! Rest peacefully in Paradise, dear friend! Until we meet again.
