Allen Etzler Obituary
Mr. Etzler was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He and Ella raised their five children and built their family business together in New Market. Allen was an exceptionally skilled and highly regarded custom cabinet maker. He enjoyed cutting wood, working on his extensive collection of steam engines and was always happy to help his family, friends and neighbors. His contagious laugh, smile and never-ending supply of witty sayings will be missed by many.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Yvonne M. Etzler of Panama City, FL; Lori E. Standifer and husband Reuben Standifer of Monrovia; daughter/granddaughter, Stacy L. Etzler of Mt. Airy; 3 sons, Allen W. Etzler Jr. and P. Gregory Etzler, both of New Market and Nathan Etzler of Sykesville; 7 grandchildren, Lindsay Cramer and husband Josh; Megan Bodmer and husband Scotty; Jessica Droneburg and husband Justin; James Standifer and wife Lauren; Mark Jr. and Brandon Dutt and Allen Etzler III; and 10 great grandchildren.
A special thank you to Dr. Kusay Barakat and his staff for their many years of excellent care and dedication to the health and well-being of Mr. Etzler.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Rev. Scott Clauson, his pastor from New Market United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, December 7.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association (https://donatenow.heart.org) or Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
