Allen William Trelease

It was always such a pleasure to have Allen (my father-in-law) spend holidays with us. I will always have fond memories of watching the movie Glory with him and listening to him comment on early southern history. He was such a smart man and had an awesome sense of humor. We loved him a great deal and he will be missed so much.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Trelease's death. I remember him well from his many visits to Jackson Library at UNCG and his service on the Board of Directors of our Friends group. He was a fine and generous man. I will miss him.

I just learned of Dr. Trelease's passing. I didn't know him that well, but he was a colleague of my late companion, Dr. Russell E. Planck. I offer my condolences to the family.

Dr. Trelease taught several of my history courses at Wells College. He was a superb educator---challenging each of us to dig deeper into our subjects. I was sorry to learn of his death. Mary Ella (Wagner) Jones (Wells, 1965)

He was my professor in Graduate School at UNC-G, and always made an effort to help me in school and my career with State Government. One of my happiest thoughts of talking about Civil War Historiography with him over drinks at a graduate student faculty event at UNC-G. He was a very kind and considerate man, and I will miss him greatly. I am very proud to call him my mentor and my friend.

This is probably my favorite shot of Dad. We drove up Mt Washington in the '80s. A great trip! It doesn't seem possible that there will be no more trips together. We'll miss you, Dad.
