In keeping with your distaste for celebrating your birthday, I'll remember these 24 hours as a "day." Besides, aren't there like several hundred thousand people born every May 23? They can do the celebrating for you.
Love, Barb

Allison and I worked together at Integro for a couple of years. We remained in touch as we road the train to/from work enjoying an occasional post work beverage and a lot of laughs. While I never met her son Brian and family I felt like I knew them. She was so proud of her family and loved to keep me up to date on what they were doing. Rest in Peace my friend.

I worked with Allison for 7 years at Integro. We shared so many laughs and stories over those years that even though it´s been a decade since I´ve seen her, it feels like yesterday. Looking through the pictures posted, I can hear hear laugh and see the sparkle in her eye as she talked about her granddaughters which adored more than life! She definitely brought a smile wherever she went!
I am truly sorry for your loss.

Allison's big brother Alan was three years older than her. Sadly, he died two years ago, but I am certain that he would have wanted to contribute some memories here.
By way of background: Alan was a senior when Allison entered the same high school as a freshman.
But he wasn't just any student. He was a basketball superstar, and probably the best known high school athlete in the entire Chicago area. Not a day went by when he wasn't prominently featured in one or more newspapers, and he was heavily recruited by every college basketball powerhouse in the country.
It was inevitable that Allison would face endless comparisons to Alan, which could have been a daunting prospect for her. And yet, she quickly established a sparkling identity in her own right. She joined numerous clubs and committees, proving her wide- ranging interests and leadership skills. She was the star performer in the school's famous dance ensemble, establishing her athletic talent and self confidence. Academically, she was at the top of her class. And she was so pretty and fashionable that she turned heads everywhere she went. Although they didn't move in the same circles, Alan was aware of, and admired, her achievements and will to succeed.
Allison wasn't "the other Armour", but rather "ANOTHER Armour", of which he was rightfully proud.
Fast forward several years and Allison earned more of Alan's respect. He was overwhelmed at the character, accomplishments, and success of Allison's son, Brian.
The subject couldn't come up without Alan citing the long list of Brian's achievements and acknowledging Allison's role in producing such a remarkable young man. He knew both of them had overcome their share of obstacles and emerged triumphant.
Coincidentally, both Allison and Alan died at age 73. May they Rest in Peace.

This was our recollection of Allison in the eyes of her two little sisters.

If you watched Allison with her family, you saw someone who loved with all her heart. If you watched her at work, you saw the consummate professional - intelligent, informed, and dedicated to her customers and to excellence.
But my strongest memory is watching Allison in high school as the star of the renowned Scottish dance group, the "Lassies."
An oversized drum was carried onto the dance floor and raised up into the air. Allison would ascend to the top of the drum and perform an authentic, complicated Highland Fling. She was beautiful, and her performance was flawless, poised, and confident. Her smile lit up the whole venue. During her dance, the crowd was mesmerized. Afterwards, the applause was thunderous.
But no one was more proud of that Lassie than the little kid in the audience who couldn't take her admiring eyes off her big sister Allison.

Dear Allison,
You were my big sister. Smart, successful, strong, beautiful, generous and always there for me whenever I needed you. This was never more true then when my beloved dog, King, started getting sick. You were unwavering in your support and love for both King and me. There was nothing too big or too small you wouldn´t do to try to help. I only needed to ask and you were there. You were by my side in his final hours. You were my rock, Allison. To this day I don´t know how I would have gotten through that awful time without your strength and love. I hope you know that I will be forever grateful (King, too).
On a lighter note, I am also grateful for so many wonderful memories of the incredible holidays you and Greg hosted in Tinley Park. Martha Stewart had nothing on you! The Thanksgivings, birthdays (especially Mom´s 75th), 4th of Julys, and Memorial and Labor Days were filled with so much fun and so much good food (that´s an understatement). The leftovers Mom and I took home fed us for a week! Now, on every one of those holidays, I smile recalling those great celebrations at your house in Tinley Park. By the way, I also miss the food!
I am also remembering all of the concerts, plays, trips, and fancy restaurants you took me to. So many bands I would never have seen without you including me when you and Greg bought tickets. How cool was that? I am especially grateful for the trip in August to Charleston, that allowed us to be together one last time. What a birthday gift! Thank you so much for those wonderful and final memories I have of you.
Not to be forgotten are all of the trips to see Brian at the Air Force Academy. The fact that you included Mom and me in your plans is something that I will never forget. Not only for me, but because of what it meant to Mom. She loved Brian so much and I don´t think there was a greater gift you could have given her than allowing her to be even a small part of his Air Force career. So unbelievably thoughtful and generous of you, Allison.
Finally, as I reflect on our childhood, I think I was a little in awe of you. You were five years older and so we didn´t really play together. What you were to me, was my unbelievably beautiful big sister who was really smart, super popular, wore the most fashionable clothes, whose hair always looked great, applied make-up flawlessly, and was just about perfect in my young eyes. Remarkably, those things were true for your whole life. Not only did you achieve great success throughout your life, you did it with style, grace, and beauty. And by the way, did you ever take a bad picture? Not that I ever saw...
I have so many memories and they will always comfort me, but I will really miss you. It´s hard to believe you´re really gone. Thank you for being my wonderful big sister. I love you, Allison.
Love forever,
Betsy (or as you called me, "Betsy Boo")
