Alma ABEL Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2016.
Alma I. Abel was born in Bayard, Nebraska on February 21, 1932 and passed away on June 2, 2016 in Roseville, California. She fought a valiant battle with dementia for many years. She was surrounded by her loved ones and friends in her final hours. Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jake Abel, Jr, by her parents Anna and Adam Buxbaum, and by her brother Reinholdt Buxbaum. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sandy Dicke, and her son-in-law, Bill Dicke. Also survived by her two wonderful granddaughters Lisa Clement (Don) and Heather Dicke. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild, Jacob Clement, due in July. Alma is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Nuss, Robert Buxbaum (Nora), and Violet Frank, as well as many nieces and nephews. Alma had the opportunity to travel the world with her husband Jake while he served in the United States Air Force. Their travels took them to Europe and Hawaii, and they lived in many states until settling in Sacramento in 1962. She was very proud to work at Crestview Lanes in Carmichael for 46 years and met many wonderful people there. She loved her rose bushes and planting and tending to her garden. She will always be remembered for her gift of gab, her beautiful nails and hair, and she was quite the fashionista! She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend to many. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers, nurses, and friends Alma had over the last few years of her life: Sandy Edlow, Maria Bonnet, Kaitlin Bonnet, Robert Clement, Diane Agnew, Laura Bowers, Carol Butler, Saj Anwar, Dan Mallari, Elvira Gutierrez, Vicraj Gill, Rajvir Sandhu, Monika Mehta, Vinnie Mehta, Mandeep Kaur, Karen Kaur, Zhane Bruno McFadden, Christine McCann, Gilbert Pascua, and Angel Aponte. Memorial donations may be made to FATE, the Foundation Aiding the Elderly, at P.O. Box 254849, Sacramento, CA, 95865.
