I lived across the street from Shelly and Lon for 10 years in Mt Lebanon Questend Avenue and it is very difficult to understand how two great people are gone from my life. They will both be in my memories forever, and surely missed at a tremendous level.

Shelly and Lon David,
Although it has been over a month since Lon has made his transition, I still wanted to tell you that I think of him often and with great affection. The two of you must miss him very much. I hope you are keeping busy and managing to find happiness in everyday things. If nothing else, the memories of the contributions Lon made in his lifetime are golden and worth holding onto. Please accept my sympathy and good wishes.

Dear Shelley and David, So sorry to here of Lon's passing. I remember his mother and father, very wonderful people. We had great times during public school growing up in California. Lon was a fun-loving and upbeat person. I will always remember his '55 T-bird and '65 Mustang. I hope you will remember all of the happy memories. Keith McMonagle

Dear Mrs. Farr and Family
Please know that you have my deepest sympathy. I worked with Lon as a Consultant for one of his Catholic Schools. I also remember how happy I was to have you and your family drive down to Weirton, West Virginia some years ago when my father passed away. Even though none of you knew my father, your husband and your family were gracious and kind enough to me to come and support me. I will always be grateful for your kindness. I also appreciated many of the long talks that your son Lon David and I had in Atlanta at the National Academic Games. I will miss Lon. He was a kind, intelligent and well-informed human being. He was a real "gentleman." Please know that the Frierson and Payton family sincerely offer our condolences.

Lon was friendly and helpful with the schools. He would try all kinds of ways to have the best deal going for us. He would go the extra mile and then some. Happy memories of the "big dinner" each year. So many prizes...I never won but he always made it fun and the family would be there. What a wonderful legacy of love he lfeft. His name and memories will always make me smile.
Peace be with you.

Dear Shelley,
I will pray for you and Lon David during this difficult time. Lon was a great person and will be greatly missed. It was memorable living next to you on Questend and coming to your house on New Year's Eve when Lon teased me about the ghosts in my house, Precious would not go to the basement and then I could not sleep there for weeks! I will have you in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Shelley and Lon David,
I had not read my paper in a few days, because I was visiting in Ohio and today read your husbands obituary. I taught your son, Lon David, in second grade at Howe School. I remember both of you as such great parents.. really involved in Lon David's elementary years, and I'm sure all of the days after that. One "highlight" of second grade I really remember was when I dressed up as a dinosaur and your husband did too. His outfit was so much more impressive than mine, but I remember he had difficulty seeing out of the head. I had to lead him (and believe me, my vision wasn't much better) with several other children in my class holding my tail up, so that it wouldn't drag on the ground. I'm sure we made a great pair..... I remember all the support you gave me and the love you had for your son. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Please tell Lon David I said Hi! I hope he is doing well... What is he doing? Hope you will contact me.
Love, Sandy Zuraw

My deepest sympathy to the Farr family. I remember Lon while I was a freshman at California State University (1967-1968). His father was the Dining Room Manager and often times his Mother would help, too. It is ironic that on Monday, July 1st, I was telling a memorable story about calling directory assistance in California, PA as I needed to speak to Lon's father. I asked the operator, "Are you sure you have the correct Alonzo Farr?" Her reply, "How many Alonzo Farr's do you think are in the phone book?" So the next day I was shocked and saddened to read that Lon had passed away. My deepest sympathy.

Lon was a very kind and loving man, who loved his family deeply, was a great friend and colleague, a dedicated professional to his customers - always putting the needs of the teachers and students first and foremost. Dear Shelley and Lon David-
Our world was a better place thanks to knowing Lon. He touched all of our hearts with his humor, knowledge, friendship and kindness. We will miss his smile, his jokes, his concern for our family and his passion for life and his family. He was so proud of Lon David and all of the accomplishments he achieved already in his life. And his love for both of you was everpresent in all he said and did.
We loved him not only as a friend, but as a part of our family. We are always there for your family not only during this difficult time, but always. You are in our hearts, our thoughts and prayers.
With our love and saddness-

Lon was a great friend to the Catholic Schools in which I've been associated. He always looked out for our budgets. He was always proud of his company and it showed. His reward will be in heaven.

Lon - Your energy, curiosity and inquisitiveness always made work fun and interesting! I enjoyed working with you and was amazed by your knowledge in education and sales. Rest peacefully now, knowing how many lives you touched and for a job "well done."
