MATTHEWS, ALVIN "DAVID" Funeral services for Alvin "David" Matthews, age 50, of Hilltop Lakes and formerly of Ovilla, Texas will be held on Sunday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas, Rev. Larry Ashley will officiate and interment will follow at the Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be on May 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Mr. Matthews was born on July 14, 1952 in Palestine, Texas to Udell & Melba Matthews. He passed away at his home on May 23, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer, He is preceded in death by his father, Udell Matthews, who passed away in 1978. Survivors include his wife, Heidi Matthews of Hilltop Lakes; three daughters. Erika Matthews & fiance', Jody Young of DeSoto, Kassie Matthews and fiance' Duane Shelton of DeSoto & Jolie Matthews of Hilltop Lakes; one son, Quentin Matthews of Keniah; one granddaughter, Hailey Shugart of DeSoto; his mother, Melba Matthews of Centerville; two brothers, Ray Matthews & wife, Becky and Larry Matthews & wife, Pam both of Centerville, one sister; Brendia Starns & husband, Freddy of Waxahachie; nine nieces & nephews and numerous friends.
