Alvin Rogers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 16, 2025.
Alvin Ray Rogers, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Yoakum, Texas, on Friday, June 13, 2025, where he had resided for almost 30 years. He was born on April 6, 1953, in Marlin, Texas, to Norman William Rogers and Elizabeth Warren.

Alvin had a strong personality balanced by his gentle spirit. He was a man of strength and devotion. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather whose steady presence and warm heart left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Alvin took pride in working with his hands, spending much of his life as a skilled maintenance engineer. He retired after 25 years of dedicated service at Stevens Nursing Home and continued to share his talents at Yoakum Independent School District until his health no longer allowed. He was known for his skillful hands and determination to fix anything that needed repair. Whether at work or home, Alvin could always be counted on to lend a hand. His steady presence will be deeply missed.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Martinez Rogers, his sister, Hazel Catherine Roop, and brother Billy Joe Rogers. He is preceded in death by siblings Charles Rogers, Jewel May Rogers, and Janet Rogers. His legacy continues through his children Kimberly Abrego, Ray Abrego, Andrew Rogers, Amanda Martinez Sherbondy, Johnny Martinez, Janie Martinez White, Jefferson Martinez, Grandchildren, Salina Martinez, Julissa Martinez, Camelia Martinez, Curstian Corley, Vanessa Martinez, Jayla Martinez, Sadi Martinez, Ferah Martinez, Mikaela White, Alex Martinez, and Elijah Martinez.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Taqueria Vallarta Mexican Restaurant at 614 Irvine St in Yoakum, anytime between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Family, friends, and co-workers are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and celebrate Alvin's life.

To call you a legend is still an understatement to me. You were and will always be my Superman. Not a day will go by without me thinking of you and all you taught me to appreciate. As much as I selfishly wish I had one more day I know you are healed. I love you so much and will continue to tell the girls all the stories of how you helped shape me into the women I am today. Keep a cup of coffee warm for me until we are united in paradise.
