Alyce Atkins

A Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Alyce Atkins who went straight to heaven on April 2, 2022 at the age of 92. Alyce was born in New York City to Dr. Herman Bernard and Cecilia Goldmacher on May 18, 1929, She was joined later by her younger sibling sisters, Lynne and Ronele to complete the happiness of the family now living in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a gifted and honored student Alyce graduated from Batten High School, in Elizabeth, with honors and was noted as a virtuoso pianist. She further attended and graduated from the Barbizon School for Modeling in Manhattan, New York. Her modeling career as a fashion clothing photography model ended when she started her studies at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida to follow in her father's footsteps to become a Physician. Her studies ended when Alyce married Lewis L. Atkins, a World War II, United States Army Air Corps Veteran. In addition to starting to become a mother of 5, she lived an adventurous life in homes which were located in Roselle, New Jersey, Granby, Connecticut, Newark, New Jersey and finally in West Orange, New Jersey where Alyce has lived for the last 65 years of her life. Along the way Alyce maintained additional homes in Elizabeth, New Jersey and Palm Beach, Florida. Alyce loved to travel and cherished the many family trips we made by automobile across the country to California and Florida. In later years she cruised the Atlantic visiting the Islands, Bermuda, Nova Scotia and Canada. Her life has been marked by success and accomplishments as a licensed, noted Real Estate Agent, an administrator at Caldwell College and the driving force behind the establishment of the Sisterhood at Ahavas Achim B'nai Jacob and David Orthodox synagogue in West Orange. Alyce also became an accomplished glass bead artist and her noted glass bead flowers are greatly appreciated by those who love the art. Her crocheting pattern designs, exemplifies her desire to be the best in everything she did. Alyce will be greatly missed by her husband Lewis L., her daughter Diane and her husband Robert J, Blumenfeld, her four sons, Barry and his wife Missy, Alan and his wife Michelle, Jeffery and his significant other Lisa, Noah, nine Grandchildren Ethan and Jed Blumenfeld and Jed's wife Rebecca, Daniel, Lauren and her husband David Petrushka, Ashley, Jessica, Nicole, Ashley, Jaclyn and two Great Granddaughters Olivia and Juliet Blumenfeld the daughters of Jed. She is also survived by her sisters, Lynne and Ronele. Alyce has been interred at the Gomel Chesed Hebrew Cemetery, Newark, New Jersey.
