Amalia Stanley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2006.
STANLEY, Amalia (Mal) In her 91st year, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother left us peacefully in her sleep at the Kiwanis Lodge, Nanaimo, B.C. on October 2nd, 2006. Mal is predeceased by Fred, her beloved husband of 67 years, infant daughter Lynn, son Brent, brother Charlie and mother and father, Beatrice and Thomas Hall. Mal was the most loving mother to Sandra (Don), Dale (Ted) and Judy (daughter-inlaw). Memories will be cherished by her grandchildren Robyn (Mike), Kim (Brian), Mark and Leigh and great grandson Tyler. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Mom and Dad moved to Victoria and enjoyed 30+ glorious years of retirement surrounded by family and friends. Family was always the focus of her life she was totally devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their most grateful thanks to Dr. Beerman and the nurses and caregivers at the Kiwanis Lodge. Their dedication and loving support to Mal and her family will never be forgotten. A service to celebrate Mal's life will be held at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria (Saanich) on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated. 302525

I can remember when I was a young teen of 14-15 how very welcome Mal always made me feel visiting the house. I was so amazed that she would let all of us kids in and be truly concerned about our safety and welfare. Sometimes there would be 15 teens in her basement at one time, but it didn't matter - she was grateful we had all come to visit. She was a most loving and giving person and I know she will be truly missed.

I'm sorry for your loss. A part of my life is gone now, also. She was my second mother in the second half of my teenage years.
