Amanda,

Happy 36th Birthday !

I went to the eternal flame
and I lit 10 electric candles
in the shape of an "A"
for the "Electric Cowgirl"

At the end of the day
I saw a snake on the ground,
a snake in the river
and a leaf bug in the sky
... Thank you !

I wrote you a poem
for your birthday.

Waited and waited
then went on my way
did not see dolphins
in the sky today
a snake in my path
asked me where I was going
she deserved no reply
for we both were knowing
our sun is setting
soon we will be free
no more dolphins
or visions of fantasy
the snake came again
against the current
in the river
as if it were sent
by the Great Indian Giver
the snake fought the darkness
and night did not come
ravens in treetops
where did they come from
the sun having set in the west
was still burning
it returned to the east
empowered by yearning
carve dolphins carve dolphins
so that I may know
the sun began carving
with its light very slow
it carved out a creature
in a wondrous light show
it was not a dolphin
that entered my eye
a leaf bug a leaf bug
I exclaimed with a sigh
the bug began singing
with the ravens in the tree
sang out so boldly
" Remember Me ! "

Bob

Amanda,

Thanksgiving on the railroad
That is where I'll be
It's United Parcel's big weekend
and the mail must go through
I'll have eight hours off
to spend with Aunt Therese
we'll have dinner together
... a real Thanksgiving feast
When we say grace before our meal
We'll thank God for
everything that he has created
I will be including a special
thank you to God for giving me
Amanda's friendship
and I will ask God to help me
protect that friendship
I am not going to make any deals
or ask for anything more
I am happy with God's gift
and God knows that

Thank you God

I love God and
I love Aunt Therese
and I love Amanda
and God knows that

Happy birthday

August 21, 2011

Amanda,

I love you !

Happy Birthday !

We're celebrating your 35th Birthday with a candlelight vigil.

This is what is happening so far:

Operation Butterfly 35

Day 1

A candle was lit in Atlantic City, New Jersey then carried across the Delaware River to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania

Day 2

The candle was lit at the
Soldier of Peace Memorial
then taken to the Liberty Bell
at Independence Hall

Day 3

The candle was taken by train
to Philadelphia International Airport
then flown to Charlotte, Virginia
then Little Rock, Arkansas
then on to Hope, Arkansas

Day 4

Four Hundred and three candles
were carried across the State Line
from Texarkana, Arkansas
to Texarkana, Texas

The ladies of Texarkana prepared flowers someone brought five red balloons all of them
said " I Love You "
someone brought a ceramic fountain
with a family of five eagles adorning it
someone brought a pin the tail on a donkey set
someone brought party poppers
someone brought a sunshine pinata
someone brought an American flag
someone brought party hats
and those whistles that you blow into
making curled up paper tongues uncurl
someone brought 35 sets of Mardi Gras beads
someone brought a statue of a man,
a woman and a child
someone brought 35 packets of Wildflower seeds
someone brought a "lifesaver" wreath
with pink and black streamers
someone brought a white Teddy Bear
someone brought "Chuckles" candies
someone brought peace branches
someone brought red white and blue flip-flops
someone rang bells
someone sang

A woman spoke about the recent loss of her son
and her need to keep his memory alive
and of her gratefulness for the kindness of others
in her time of need

There were signs of all kinds there.

Some read:

" When God closes one door
He opens another "

" I said a prayer for you today "

" For He will command his angels
concerning you to guard you in
all your ways " ... Psalms 91:11

" The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want,
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside still waters,
He restores my soul. " ... Psalm 23

" Flowers whisper what words can't say "

A meal was prepared
Texas River Tuna with beans
garnished with
pickled green tomatoes and onions
and black eyed pea salad

Dessert was served:
Walnut buttermilk pie
and coffee

Day 5

We sent out for Chinese Food
Egg Drop Soup
with steamed celery and shrimp
Rice flour crisps
with duck sauce
Pan sticker dumplings
with hot and mild sauce
Chicken with peanuts
with white rice and carrots
lemonade
and a fortune cookie
which advised me that
" A pleasant surprise is
in store for you soon "
Lucky numbers

It was 107 degrees in Texarkana
We thought we needed matches
to light our candles
Then we realized
that if we just put
the candles in the sun
the sun would melt them
Someone went to the Dollar Store
and got more wooden watches
We lit the already melting candles
Now we had a real problem
What time should we
put the candles out
Sundown, midnight ?
Shall we keep them burning
til there is nothing left of them ?
In the end we did nothing.
A magnificent black cloud
passed over your candlelight vigil
There was thunder
There was lightening
Large drops of rain began falling
One by one a raindrop
would meet a candle flame

Amanda was a trooper for sure!!!!I could never get over her high level of energy and great patriotism!!! And her children were following her footsteps. Even now the spirit of her legacy is still with us. I will miss all three of them - and Heaven is a better place now...and we are praying for the Prewitt family and other family members . The last thing she said to me ( that I remember...) is she said we need to get back together into a worthy cause..
We will quietly remember now THEN we will think on this: What shall we do then....
I will add pictures as soon as I get home...God Bless and Keep you. Keep the flame going

Words can not express how my heart breaks for all of Amanda's family. She was surely a light in my life for the past 5 years and I am so proud for every minute I got to spend with her. She was always smiling , up for a good time , and trying to get me out of my comfort zone. What joy knowing her brought to my life .Any time I needed help with anything , she was there. I will miss her so much , but find comfort in knowing that someday I will see her again. All my love , Terri Lynn Chandler

To Amanda's family - we don't have the words to express our sorrow. We can only hope that knowing there are others on this journey with you will help in some small way.
