Amy Breitsprecher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 18, 2024.
In loving memory of AMY KRISTIN BREITSPRECHER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful and precious daughter, Amy. Amy passed away on December 31, 2023, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. She unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest after her courageous battle with endocarditis, following open-heart surgery to replace her aortic valve on December 18, 2023. Amy was so strong mentally, was an amazing patient advocate for herself, and was quite a tenacious fighter all the way to the end.

The Lord blessed Jimmy and Denise Breitsprecher with their precious daughter, Amy, on November 10, 1992, in Mission Viejo, CA. Then, at just 10 months old, Amy 'Amykins' moved with her parents to Bountiful, UT. Amy lived out the next 30 years of her life in Bountiful and Salt Lake City, UT.

Even at a very young age, Amy always stuck up for the "underdog" and kids that were bullied and didn't seem to fit in. She was a strong voice for the weaker ones, and she was admired for that. Amy loved to help people however she could. She was even a great friend and encourager to others when she lived on the streets, and as she herself worked the 12 steps in the Big Book (AA) while in treatment.

Amy struggled with addiction for the past decade, but the last 5 months of her life were truly transforming! She even said, "I'm a different person this time!" It was the first time that Amy had the desire to work through all of the 12 Steps, and she did, and was a new person because of it! Amy truly was a warrior fighting for her new life! She was on her way to a new and better life, but sadly, this new life was cut short for reasons only the Lord knows.

Amy truly was an amazing human being and taught us all so much! She was a loving, caring, giving and kindhearted soul. Her compassion and concern for those in need showcased her immense heart for people. Her favorite pastimes were art, music, photography, eating steak and taking care of her 7 kitties. She loved the color purple, the colors of the rainbow, crazy daisies, mint chocolate chip ice-cream, concerts, butterflies and stuffed animals.

Amy is survived by her parents, Jimmy Breitsprecher (Marnie), Denise Haas (Tom), her sister Jamie Breitsprecher, step siblings Michelle Lawler, Jacob and Mallorie Lippincott, and many extended family members. All those Amy leaves behind will forever cling to precious memories with her. Amy is deeply missed by her family, extended family, and many friends who were touched by her life.

Please, join us to honor Amy with a celebration of her life. We will gather together to share pictures, videos, music, and some of our favorite memories and stories to remember Amy, who is already greatly missed. Please, reflect on a favorite memory of Amy, and if you're comfortable, please share it at Amy's celebration! "Amy made me laugh when..." or "Amy taught me..." Things like that, or whatever memory you want to share. Amy loved colors, especially purple and the colors of the rainbow, so Amy's family would love for everyone to dress casual and wear your favorite color in honor of Amy. She would love that!

The celebration of life in honor of Amy Breitsprecher will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at Warehouse 22 from 4-6pm. The address is 1068 W 350 S, Syracuse, UT 84075. In lieu of flowers, we know Amy would love for you to bless the Women's Retreat House where she shined and graduated from treatment.

To donate, go to womensretreathouse.com and select donate, or write a check to Women's Retreat House, mailing address: PO Box 9044, 340 W 2550 N, Pleasant View, UT 84414, and tell them it's to honor Amy Breitsprecher.

Our family extends a very heartfelt "Thank You" for the overwhelming love and support during this challenging time. Your kindness is deeply appreciated, providing solace and a comforting reminder of Amy's positive impact on those who loved and cared for her.

Amy grew to love the Serenity Prayer while working the 12 Steps in treatment..."God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change: COURAGE to change the things I can: And WISDOM to know the difference."

"Amy, we love you to the moon and stars and back again!"

We thank God for the precious GIFT of Amy's 31 years of life!

"The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the Name of the LORD!" Job 1:21

The first memory I have of Amy is when Chad introduced her to me. I immediately recognized the kind nature she had. Later I will learn her love for CATS! Which is a love I share as well. The world has lost a kind soul and I´m so sad for the loss. My thoughts and prayers, many prayers, are with Jimmy and all of Amy´s family.

My sweet granddaughter, Amy...
I have so many fond memories of you and your visits to Michigan and mine to Utah - especially the one of you, Jamie and me all alone when I sent your mom and dad off for the weekend! We had such a fun time; I'll always remember that! :) You were always such a sweet girl, and I've always loved being your Nana!

Amy, your presence, smile and laughter I miss
Our daddy/daughter time I´ll always treasure
With your head on my shoulder, loving you always
Hearing you say, "I love you, Poppy," forgetting you never.

"You are my precious Amy love,
I love you oh so much!"
I loved singing that song to you from when I wrote it when you were born and throughout your whole life. I will always treasure our Daddy/Daughter memories.
Amy, thank you for loving me unconditionally. I miss you so very much! I love you, Kitten!
All my love, your Poppy

My first memory of Amy was driving out to Utah right after she was born - I couldn't wait to meet my FIRST niece (and for her to meet her Auntie Kimmy)!!! I have loved her ever since - for 31 years - and have been so blessed to be such a big part of her life!!! XOXOXOXOXO

Our best "shared experience" was almost every November when she, Jimmy and I all shared our birthdays together... we always said, "it's tradition!" :) Such great family memories!!!

I am so grateful that I was able to be at Amy's graduation ceremony - what an incredible day we had celebrating her achievement! I was just SO proud of my beautiful niece!!! :)

One of my favorite (and most special) memories I have with Amy was the last time she visited us in Colorado! I brought her upstairs to get her settled in her room, and we plopped down on the futon and just started talking... We ended up talking for a couple hours, just catching up on life and getting re-acquainted, as we always did during our visits. It was the sweetest, most memorable time, just us! I remember her saying, Thanks for spending time with me, Auntie Kimmy, I really appreciate that! :)

Amy was one of the first friends I made moving to Utah. My junior high days would have been hard without her. We walked together every day all through junior high, and to this day, those walks remain some of my favorite childhood moments. Amy was a ray of sunshine. A sweet soul with so much love to give. Love you, Amy.
