FAIRFIELD — Amy Dawn Knowler, 42, of Ankeny, passed on to forever and eternal peace on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in San Diego, Calif.Amy was preparing for additional cancer treatment and was hospitalized, where she later passed as a result of colon cancer. Amy began her beautiful life being born in Fairfield, Iowa, June 27, 1966. In 1980, her family moved to Ankeny, Iowa where Amy graduated from Ankeny Senior High in 1984. She then pursued a Medical Secretary designation at DMACC, Ankeny, Iowa. Most recently Amy worked as a residential cleaner and as a secretary in her husband’s insurance office. Amy’s spiritual journey throughout her entire life was such to be an example for all. Her smiling face, quick wit and especially her loving, caring and compassionate personality is to be admired. Amy was a true humanitarian, always thinking of the other person, always providing a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Amy most enjoyed just being with her husband, Darin, and her kids, Jacob, Gloria, stepson, Grant, and most recently her Christmas puppy, Reno. Amy so enjoyed the many trips her and Darin have taken and the family vacations out west to the mountains, streams and waterfalls of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. At home in Ankeny, Iowa, Amy adored her home life, especially cooking and preparing family picnics held in her yard and various surrounding parks. Amy had a true passion for her gardening, which included her flower gardens and a vegetable garden. She also enjoyed greatly the short and long motorcycle rides her and Darin took in the summer and fall months. From Amy’s large open heart flowed nothing but care and love; she will be dearly missed by so many.Those left to honor Amy’s memory her husband, Darin J. Knowler; her children, Gloria Dawn Brazelton, 17, and Jacob Perry Brazelton, 14, a stepson, Grant Joseph Knowler, 13; her parents, Al and Pam Wardlow of Ankeny, grandparents, Larry and Helen Shepard of Ottumwa, Iowa. Amy is also survived by her sisters, April Johnson (Mike) of Ankeny, Erin P. Cretsinger (Sean) of Ankeny and six nephews all residing in Ankeny, Iowa and her mother-in-law, Evelyn M. Knowler, of Oskaloosa, Iowa and a very close and dear lifelong friend, Michelle Rushing of Johnston, Iowa.Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Irma and Bill Moffit of Ottumwa, Iowa.Memorial services are being held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Ankeny Christian Disciple Church, 2506 SW Third St, Ankeny, Iowa. Darin and family. I went to elem and jr high with Amy. She was always well liked and even attended some of our class reunions. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful person and she will be missed by her Fairfield classmates.
