Amy Novelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 6, 2017.
Amy Wehring Novelli, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, the 5th of April 2017, after a lifelong, courageous and tenacious struggle with Cystic Fibrosis. She was 51.
Amy had the good fortune to grow up in Brenham, Texas, surrounded by a large extended family that she loved dearly. Her entire life was punctuated by activities, experiences and gatherings with her aunts, uncles and cousins. Amy was baptized on the 12th of September 1965 and confirmed on the 8th of April 1979 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. She graduated from Brenham High School, Blinn College, and Texas State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.
Amy never wandered too far from her Brenham roots, settling in Houston after college. There, Amy met and married the love of her life, David Novelli, in 1992. Together they built a life together and raised the great joys of her life, sons Matthew and Nicholas. They would later acquire property in Brenham, spending time in the country often hosting friends and relatives.
Amy began her career having graduated with a BBA in Accounting, serving in gas accounting roles in the energy industry. As Amy and David were expecting their first child, Amy turned her attention to their family and their home. In the years that followed, she poured her energy into many organizations and institutions central to their family life including the Junior League of Houston, Depelchin Children's Center, The Gladney Center for Adoption, First Presbyterian Church, and Presbyterian School.
Amy's fondest memories involved activities and experiences with her family. As an oldest child and only daughter, Amy's love of watching sports, especially college basketball, came from her father and two brothers. She delighted in watching each of her sons grow from infants into young men. Amy had many interests but her greatest passion was being a mom. She loved traveling, and her favorite places included Colorado, Italy, the Cayman Islands, New York, and especially Disney World. She was a capable and consummate cook who enjoyed attending cooking classes from Florence to Aspen to Houston. But her favorite pastime was watching her sons perform in their own activities, which brought her pure joy.
In the midst of challenges from Cystic Fibrosis, Amy demonstrated tremendous fortitude and perseverance and felt blessed by God's grace for the ability to live and love surrounded by family and friends and watching Matthew and Nicholas grow up.
Predeceased by her infant daughter, Mary Kathryn, Amy is survived by her husband David and their two sons, Matthew and Nicholas; her parents, Glenn and Kathy Wehring; her brothers and their families, Mark and Heidi Wehring and their daughters, Emma and Grace, and Jonathan and Emily Wehring and their daughters, Anna, Caroline, and Ella; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Novelli; brothers-in-law and their families Dan and Barbara Novelli and their children, Michelle and Taylor Flinn and Weston Novelli, Mike and Brook Novelli and their children, Becca and Layne French, Hannah Novelli and Sarah Novelli, and sister-in-law Nancy and Michael McGuire, Kimberly McGuire and James McGuire. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that she adored.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 10th of April, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 11th of April, at First Presbyterian Church; 5300 Main Street in Houston, where Pastor Jeff Smith of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby fellowship hall.
The family will then gather for a private interment at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham,

Words aren't enough to describe someone like Amy! She was the that someone that brought Grace-in-Motion to life! To say that she was all of this.....isn't even close to what she brought to others who were fortunate to know her! Considerate, thoughtful, giving, respectful, unselfish, beautiful and loving friend always doing for others...this was Amy! It is an honor to know her and to be considered her friend. We hold it more as an honor to be able to have that opportunity to see her on that sweet DAY again in God's Kingdom! We miss and love you Amy! -Marty & Edie McWilliams

We so much appreciated Amy's sincere conversation with our son when he was trying to choose which high school to attend. To him, it was a major life event and Amy took the time to bring logic and that wonderful motherly gift "compassion" to their conversation! She was extraordinary! We are blessed to have known her if for only a brief time.

I remember Amy's southern charm and her unfailing grace. She was a beautiful lady with a soft, friendly presence. Over the years I enjoyed my visits with Amy as she was a great conversationalist with a lovely sense of humor who offered me wonderful, much appreciated tips when I became a parent. Nicholas, Matthew and David I'm so very sorry for your loss.
