OBITUARY ANDRE E. GADBOIS, Q.C. 1920-2010 At the age of ninety, passed away peacefully on April 27 at the Jewish General Hospital with loved ones at his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Babs Drumm) and cherished daughter Josee (Vaughn Schlosser), and his brother Jean. Deeply mourned by his loving children, Anne (Marco Valenti), Louise (Dr. Robert A. Young), Marie (Michael O'Hagan) and Frederic, and by his son-in-law Vaughn. Grandpapa will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Michelle, Carrie, Cait, Liam and Emily O'Hagan, David and Mark Schlosser and Amy and Julia Valenti. He will be forever in the hearts of his loving siblings, Helene (Fournaraki), Denise, Pierre (Dr. Yvette Bonny) and Philippe, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Andre lived a long and fulfilling life. He served for five years in the Canadian Army during the second world war, and was posted throughout Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy and Holland. He graduated from McGill University Law in 1949 and practiced constitutional and corporate law at Gatineau Power Company and then Hydro-Quebec (Avocat en chef) until his retirement in 1985. He joined Desjardins, Ducharme, Stein, Monast as Counsel until 2001. He volunteered his time on various boards such as the Montreal Children's Hospital and as an Alderman for the City of Beaconsfield for a time. Apart from his family, Andre's passions included skiing, tennis, golf and gourmet cooking. He was prodigious in tending his indoor garden and had a special passion for orchids. Always an avid reader, he was particularly taken with exploring the mysteries of the universe. The family wishes to thank Dr. Julio Faria and his team, and the many other health professionals at the Jewish General for their care and compassion. Thanks also to the professionals at the CLSC Lac St-Louis and to many supportive family members for enabling Dad to live independently until shortly before his passing. Visitation at: on Saturday May 8, 2010 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life in the chapel of the funeral home.
