Ft. Myers - Andre Louis Laz Jr., 60, of Fort Myers passed away on April 7th, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully with his wife by his side. Andre was born on August 19th, 1963 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Dr. Andre Laz and Camille Chikowski Laz. Andre was well known on the basketball court, playing for Naples High School, Edison Community College, and Florida International University. He graduated from FIU in 1987 and had a long successful career in hotel and property management. Andre's passions in life included spending time with family, watching beautiful sunsets, barbequing and perfecting his brisket, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. He traveled to attend NASCAR races, and loved to attend New Jersey Devils and Everblades ice hockey games. Andre is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Alexandra Edler (Garrett), and step-daughter Samantha Kuhn. Also left with many wonderful memories are his sisters Melanie Laz Wolz (Michael), Dr. Jeannine Laz Hall, brother Vincent Laz (Barbara), and the nieces and nephews he was so fond of including David and Vinnie Laz Jr., Christopher and Caroline Hall, Katherine Wolz, and Abigail Wolz Andring (Jacob). Donations in memory of Andre may be made to Toys for Tots or the Harry Chapin Food Bank, both organizations close to his heart. A private family memorial will be held at the beach at sunset.
