I was so sorry and sad to hear that Andy Hibbs had died. I knew Andy and Susan in Cambridge, when he was a promising PhD student, with a wicked sense of fun. What a lot he packed into his life, and what a great loss to his family and all who knew and loved him.

I worked with Andy many years ago while I was at Quantum Design and he was at Quantum Magnetics. Very sad to hear of his passing, he was brilliant and a man of great humor. I remember once when the parking lot was re-striped at work and Andy had left his car, someone got them to paint his name and leave a giant parking space with Andy's car in the middle. We took a picture of it from the roof and made great fun of him "taking over the world." In great fashion he loved it and he will be missed by all those who's lives he touched.

There is no comfort I can share with Andrew's family at such a sad time, However Andy was a refreshing bright "spark" in my professional dealings with him through BP and GroundMetrics. Even more so the humanity, warmth, humour and particularly energy that was part of the interaction, that I couldn't help but think of him as a good friend even in the short time I met him. There were indications of his brilliance which he did not dwell on except to get the tasks done, so his technical talent was used to engage and inspire people.
I and many colleagues will miss him for these qualities, and although hard to understand his loss, he will live on in our memories. My condolences to his family and children who he often spoke of proudly.

I remember working with Andy in the early 2000's on a DARPA project. His genius and ingenuity in the development or sensors was remarkable. We reconnected in 2013 at an SEG meeting in Las Vegas. He will be missed. Lew Bartel

I was very fortunate to be called on as the Organizational Behavior Consultant and Executive Coach by Andy and his staff for the past 12 years. Over my career of the past 25 years Andy Hibbs stands out as a true leader in every way, which is very rare. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. My deepest condolences to Mary and his family that he so loved.

Andy was a friend, colleague and my favorite reason to come to California for a technical brain storming session. He was truly one of the most creative scientist I knew, and a person that I respected so much for his hard work and wonderful inovations. One of the things that really impressed me was how well Andy could integrate and explain the observations of others. I was his and Geoff's program manager in the funding agencies. When I would visit with my post docs, he always helped us integrate our understanding of his work with his own. I am so terribly sorry that the world and his family has lost him. If there is anything I can do for his wife and children, then need only ask. My very best to all, Nels Olson

I had not seen Andy since he left Cambridge, but I remember him very clearly from my time in the Boat Club. He coached us often and with great patience! I particularly remember that when we wanted to create our own ladies' boat club blazer, he loaned us his so that we could copy it; considering that we had anticipated resistance from the men for this 'feminist' innovation, it was a very liberal thing to do. I'll say a prayer for him and for his family. How awful to have lost him so soon.

It was my privilege to work with Andy for over a decade. He created an atmosphere of support, enthusiasm and excitement and always encouraged us to push our boundaries and try new things. I learned a great deal from him, both directly and by example. He was also one of the kindest, most decent, and most ethical people I've ever known, and his charm and wit lit up the room. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. My family offers the deepest sympathies to his.

I knew him for a short time but I, like so many others, was caught up in the enthusiasm and the energy this man brought to a room. It was only later that you became aware of his humanity and his deep convictions. he was indeed a remarkable person and I consider it my privilege to have known him even for the short time that I did.
