Andrew Hofman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2025.
Andrew "Andy" Hofman, 82, of Meadowlands/Elmer passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024 with his family by his side. Andy was born to Case and Nellie (Bok) Hofman on March 16, 1942, in Elmer, Mn., and grew up on the family farm with a deep sense of pride for his Dutch heritage and unwavering work ethic.

Andy graduated from Toivola Meadowlands High School, Class of 1960. He was united in marriage to Kay Morgan in 1960 and they made their home in Elmer. His career was a fruitful one, beginning as a truck driver hauling grain and a family beef farm . He took immense pride in the cattle he raised, transforming this endeavor into one of his greatest accomplishments.

Andy had a passion for various recreational activities, including hunting, fishing, family camping trips, trapshooting and four-wheeling. He had a deep love for his land and wildlife, a legacy he leaves behind with his cherished family. A lover of games, he frequently liked a good game of horseshoes or smear.

When he wasn't making hay in the summer he loved spending time with family at the family lake cabin on Happy Lake. Known for his appetite, chicken wings, a homegrown steak, Kay's fried chicken and her chocolate chip cookies were among his favorites. A routine reader, he enjoyed reading the newspaper and his farming magazines from cover to cover, and loved the sounds of George Jones.

Andy is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years Kay, his daughter Lynn (Pete) Kaim, his sons Randy (Chaz) Hofman and Brad (Kitty) Hofman. His brother Tony (Cheryle) Hofman, and sister-in-law Lynda Hofman. His grandchildren, Candi (Josh) Antus, Andy (Ryann) Kaim, Jake (Ashlee) Kaim , Jessie (Amber) Hofman, Brandon (Bri) Hofman, Nate (Hannah) Hofman, and Mandy (Nate) Hofman, will remember their grandfather's hearty laughter, teasing and love. Andy had 18 great-grandchildren who added extra joy to his life. Along with many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Hofman, his sister, Gert Hackman, his parents, Case and Nellie Hofman and nephews Bobby Horvath and Brent Hofman. Andy's sister Ann Horvath, passed away shortly after him.

Andy was a man of simplicity, wit, and warmth, who leaves behind a legacy of love for land and family. His presence will be deeply missed, even as his memories continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 on June 14th at the Meadowlands Community Center.

My sincere sympathies to the entire Hofman family. I hope this day of celebration is a great one honoring Andy´s life and legacy. As I know, losing your Dad leaves quite an empty feeling but you can still cherish the beautiful memories that will live on forever. Have a beautiful celebration. God Bless Andrew and Family. Tom.
