Andrew Oey Kuntaraf passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from injuries sustained after a motorcycle accident near Charles Town, WV. He was 33. Born in Loma Linda, CA to Jonathan and Kathleen Kuntaraf, he was raised in Bandung, Indonesia until 1987 when he moved to Singapore. In 1996 he moved to Maryland. He was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley Academy, New Market VA in 1997. He earned his BBA in Computer Information Services in 2001 at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee, where he later obtained his MBA in management in 2008. In 2001 he began his career with the General Conference Seventh Day Adventist World Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. He served as an Associate Director of the Seventh-day Adventist Accounting Software and then more recently as the Director of the Church Membership Software. He had a passion for his work and church, and had viewed it as a service to God. In addition to his gift with technology, Andrew was also a skilled musician, an avid motorcyclist, and loved to travel. Andrew is survived by his wife of almost nine years Alysia. He also leaves to mourn his loss his parents Jonathan and Kathleen Kuntaraf, his sister Andrea Kuntaraf Crane, his paternal grandmother Song Djie Lan, and several nieces and nephews Chelsea Michelle, Torie, Chelsea Rae, Kylee, Skylar, Trenton, and Alyssa. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10 from 6-8pm and Saturday, April 13 from 4-8pm at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD. Funeral Services will take place at 4pm on Sunday, April 14 at the Southern Asian Seventh Day Adventist Church 2001 E. Randolph Rd., Silver Spring, MD. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, they are establishing a scholarship fund to assist worthy college students in Indonesia. If you wish to participate, you may send a check payable to the "General Conference of SDA" and write in "Andrew Kuntaraf Memorial Scholarship Fund" in the memo line.
