I was in charge of the work of The Salvation Army in the north east of England and served with Andrew. He was quiet spoken and to me was a Saint. People loved him and he looked after the SA in Penshaw.

A guiding light
Your presence still lingers here, and it won't leave me alone. These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real, there's just too much time cannot erase.
Uncle Bram you will be greatly missed.
Never forgotten, always loved.
Sleep forever peacefully,
Love Judith.

Not enough words to describe a wonderful Dad
Our Dad was always known by various Church denominations as a really good
Salvationist and a really deep Christian and he loved working with 'Churches
Together'.
He loved to speak to anyone wherever he went whether that person knew him or
not, and always worked really hard nearly every week without fail while delivering 'The War Cry' and 'Kid's Alive (Salvation Army Newspapers) around various pubs, until he had to stop because of his retirement and the closure of Penshaw Corps.
He was extremely musical minded like myself (playing or writing music) and
while I was playing the electric organ, he would often stand beside me and join in
playing by ear while adding in a descant.
He often sang solo's in front of a large congregation or singing a duet or a trio
with other member's of the family and used to play various brass band
instruments many years ago as well as the melodica instrument and Bass Drum.
He loved been with any member of his family and has enjoyed many days out and holidays with them, and we will all miss him very much.
He was a very caring, loving and a perfect Dad (and Grandad) and a good friend and will always be in our hearts forever.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but leaves behind a legacy, the example of a true Christian person.

An exceptional and loving Dad
Dad always persevered to keep the name of The Salvation Army going in Penshaw until his retirement as Divisional Envoy even when it almost got closed many many years ago.
Over many years, he knew just how to build the Penshaw Corps with adults as well as with children of all ages and was often called 'Grandad' by many children even though they were not actually related and infact, they loved him in every possible way. Infact, he was noted by many religious and non-religious people as a remarkable and 'Special Man'.
With adult support, he would occasionally take the children up to Penshaw Village and head for Penshaw Monument while giving the children things to do, or giving them an interesting quiz on the way which they thought was great fun.
He loved planning SA programmes using children or Brass Bands or Songsters as
well as having a weekend visit many years ago from Tadley Singing Company
(Children's Choir) all the way from Hampshire. He loved holding Jumble Sales, Christmas Fayre's etc for The Salvation Army and always went out of his way to fill the building with people.
Years ago, he would arrange for annual bus trips to places such as Whitby,
Scarborough, Bridlington, etc. where he always filled the coach with people.
He loved listening to clean jokes and always had a good laugh with anyone due to his great sense of humour, and I remember many years ago at Scarborough on a day trip while the majority of the people from our coach was sitting together either on the sand or by using deck-chairs, my Dad quietly crept behind his sister Eva (also Promoted to Glory) with a smile on his face, and put heavy pebbles and large stones into her empty shopping bag.
When we arrived on the bus back at Penshaw, he completely forgot to tell her
about what he had put into her bag, and she struggled to walk home due to the
weight of it.
However as I too liked to joke on, my Aunty Eva blamed me for it and even though my Dad explained that he had done it for a joke, I still got the blame although she only laughed it off afterwards, and my Dad thought it was
funny that I got the blame instead of him.
