I served under Col Palenchar when he commanded the US Army Recruiting Main Station in Columbus, Ohio from 1972-1973. Col Palenchar was liked and respected by all, he was a fine officer. Col Palenchar recommended me for & awarded to me the Army Commendation Medal just before my discharge. I was proud to know him. Sp/5 Gene MacDonald
