Have been thinking about you this month because the last time I saw you was on Thanksgiving. You were helping my niece and nephew get down Christmas decorations. Holidays have not been quite the same with your absence. Romona

My Dearest friend Andy I used to joke with you about the movie you were in called Leap of Faith with Steve Martin, Liam Neelson, Meat Loaf and Debra Winger. Now I can watch you in the Church town meeting scene over and over I still get a kick out of it. I know your many friends would like to see you as well and should watch the movie.

Andy, I hate that we lost touch years ago, and I just found out about your passing. We had the best times when you were around. The kids adored you and there was always so much laughter. You were like a little brother to me and I am very sad that I didn't get to say goodbye. So, goodbye my friend, your memories will always be with me. Kaye

My Dear Brother Andy....It has been over a year now since you left us and a week doesn't go by without me thinking of you. Sherry and I talk of you often and I catch myself wanting to call you to chat like we did for over 12 years. I will always cherish our friendship and am proud to be your adopted brother.

I'm saddened to only now hear of Andy leaving. We were "shooting buddies" back in the early 80's when I was stationed at Barksdale AFB. I enjoyed his friendship so much. I will cherish his memory.

Andy, the little girl who loves you so much turns 16 this week. We had her birthday dinner last night. All the kids wanted you to know they missed you, so we offered a toast to you with Coke and sweet tea. You will always be remembered Andy. We love you!!

BIOGRAPHY - Andrew Lee Posey was born on March 7, 2012 on Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois and died on December 5, 2011 in Bossier City, Louisiana. His father was Larry Nolan Posey of Bossier City and his mother is Melodie Burke Posey Valaitis of Oakville, Connecticut. His siblings are Dawn and Christopher Valaitis. His grandparents were Earl Tapley Posey and Nora Lee Posey; and William Henry Burke, Jr. and Audrey Deane Burke.

Andrew had no children of his own, but numerous kids across the country considered him to be an honorary father, uncle or big brother.

He enjoyed computers, buying unusual things (like moving trucks and postal jeeps), building lightweight aircraft, random trips to nowhere and dreaming big dreams, but most of all, he enjoyed helping his friends. He was the one to call, whether you were in trouble, sick, hungry, lonely or just wanted “Andy Time.” He never failed to make you laugh.

After graduating from Parkway High School and serving a stint in the Army, he worked in many jobs that took him from Bossier City to Nebraska, Texas, Arizona, South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee and back again. He also served as Post Adjutant with American Legion Post 191. We are so thankful he came home to spend what would be his last few years with us.

A beautiful memorial service on December 13, 2011 was held at Hill Crest Memorial in Haughton, Louisiana, officiated by friend, Reverend Randy Harper. A room full of friends said farewell to this sorely-missed individual who was everyone's family member. His cremated remains were placed next to his father's at Hill Crest, although we will remember Andy every time we drive by one of his favorite diners, drink a Coke (never Pepsi!), or see a road to nowhere that beckons to the adventurer in all of us.

Happy 52nd Birthday, Andy! We'd all probably take you out to dinner tonight and watch you tease the cute waitress. Then we'd sneak her our credit card because you always insisted on paying. There'll never be another Andy. Miss you.

You were the best, Andy. Thirty years was not enough. Your passing makes no sense. All of my favorite stories and jokes are about you. To whom will I tell them now? "Andy, Andy Posey!" You are loved and missed dearly, my friend.

Andy, Andy, Andy. No one could say, "Hello Beautiful," quite like you. We celebrated Mardi Gras parades in your full-sized yellow moving van. Took a ride in your postal jeep. Watched you charm every waitress in the Ark La Tex. Sang at the top of our lungs at the Kenny Loggins concert. You held my kids as babies. And later, my grandkids. What on earth are we going to do without you?

Andy, for most of our lives, we had known each other from elementary shcool, junior high and then, high school. You were always one great friend to me, though countless others, as well. You were always patriotic and brave in your thinking.

Andrew worked with my company; Alcohol & Drug Testing Services LLC for quite some time. He was always willing and able to do the job in a professional manner. Last year when audited he had a perfect audit. All of us and those at UPRR and KCS will miss him greatly. May he rest in peace. My thoughts are with his close friends and family.

When I have no one to turn to and feeling kind of low,When there is no one to talk to,and no where I really want to go.I search deep inside myself. It is the love in my heartThat lets me know my Angels are there.Even though we are many miles apart.A smile then appears on my face, and the sun begins to shine.I hear a voice so soft and sweetsaying,Everything will be just fine.It may seem I'm all alone,But I am never by myself at all.When-ever I need my Angels near, all I have to do is call.An Angels love is always true,on that you can always depend. They will always stand behind you,and always be your friend.Thank you for your friendship true, for always being there and For being you.For your heart so good and kind,A truer friend I could ever find.Thank you my friend, you will be forever missed.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Andrew Lee Posey our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Andrew. And to Andrew it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Andrew, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Andrew's family and loved ones.
