Andrew Joseph Speyrer

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 11, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Andrew Joseph Speyrer, 51, who passed away Sunday, October 7, 2007. Reverend Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Speyrer was a native of Port Barre, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette. He was a graduate of USL. He worked for the Campus Police while attending USL. While in college, he founded Acadiana Alarm Systems where he started in his garage and built into the largest independent alarm company in the south. Andy was a very kind and giving person who gave to individuals as well as the community. He truly loved his children and their mother. Survivors include his children, Kimberly Speyrer, Krystal Engel, Brittney Speyrer, Colt Speyrer, Jordan Speyrer, and Reagan Speyrer; two grandchildren, Duncan Engel, and Mylan Engel; and his former wife, Joan Wyble Speyrer. Andy is the older son of Andrew and Jimmy Ruth Speyrer; brother of Lucy Glass, Barbara Dwyer, Andrea Holt, Sylvia Speyrer and Jimmy Speyrer; and a host of other loving family members. Andy enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his son, Colt. Andy was preceded in death by grandparents, Bennett and Jeanette Speyrer of Port Barre; and sister, Jeanette Rose Speyrer of Hammond. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue Thursday from 8:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Donald Brasseaux, Billy Faud, Phil Mayers, Louis Mahfouz, Chris Arsement, and Mark Speyrer. Memorial contributions may be sent in the name of Andy Speyrer to Speyrer Children Education Fund, Chris Arsement CPA, 701 Robley Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.
