Died May 18, 2003 at Vincentian Regency, Allison Park, age 82. Rev. Andrew J. Turlik was born in Leckrone, PA on Nov. 26, 1920; son of the late Constantine & Elizabeth (Jendrihovsky) Turlik. Father Turlik graduated from St Mary School, German Twp High School, St Vincent College with a Master of Arts degree, and St Vincent Archabbey Seminary. He was ordained to the Priesthood on June 19, 1946 by the late Bishop Hugh C. Boyle of the Pgh Diocese. After serving one year at his home Parish of St Mary, he was assigned Associate Pastor and Vicar Econome Pro Tem after the Pastors death in 1947, at St Matthew Church in South Side. He assisted the newly appointed Pastor until 1952. In addition to serving as Associate Chaplain at Pittsburgh's Mercy Hospital he was assigned to the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal to assist in safe guarding the validity of marriages, working out of Epiphany Parish. His next assignments were as Associate of Our Lady of Lourdes in Burgettstown, PA and substitute Pastor of St Anthony Church in Bessemer, PA. He was Chaplain of Canonsburg Council of Knights of Columbus and appointed Chaplain of the Rev. Boyle Fourth Degree Assembly, Washington, PA. Also, he was Chaplain of the Rev. Andrew Hlinka District (Washington-Greene Counties) of the First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota). Father Turlik was appointed Pastor of Holy Rosary Church in Muse, PA, where he served until his final appointment as Pastor of St. Anne Church in Homestead, PA, from 1971 until Dec. 1, 1985. Health problems resulted in his retirement to St John Vianney Manor. After hospitalization and surgery, he was transferred to Vincentian Regency Nursing Home. Father Andrew dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed. His interest besides participating in sports was attending sporting events. He also loved to travel and visited his parents homeland of Slovakia with his brother John in 1970. Father Turlik is also survived by sisters, Mary Yakubik of Walnut Creek, CA and Verna Miller of Mogadore, OH; and brother, John (Genie) of Akron, OH; also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces & nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews; preceded in death by brothers Sylvester & Steve; sisters, Mathilda Crano and Catherine Kmetz. Visitation Tuesday from 1-4 pm & 7-9pm with a prayer service at 7pm at SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 3501 Main St., Munhall (Member Selected Independent Funeral Homes). Translation to St. Anne Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Homestead Wednesday morning. Funeral Mass Wed., 10:00 am with Bishop Donald Wuerl as the main Celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

On behalf of our entire family, who attended Holy Rosary Parish in Muse, during Father's time there, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to his family. We very much enjoyed Father's time with us at Holy Rosary and we always remained sad that he did not stay with us for a longer period of time.
