Andries Knoester Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 13, 2007.
July 02, 1912-Oct. 08, 2007 Rudy & Ritva Knoester, Joanne & Louis Toteda and Dennis & Louise Trevisanutto announce with sadness the death of our father. He was born in Scheveningen, Holland, where he was married in 1936 to Hertha Wolff. She predeceased him in 1994. The family immigrated to Port Arthur, Ontario in 1954. Andre worked at Abitibi Paper Mill until his retirement. His passion was gardening. Also surviving are his much loved grandchildren and great grandchildren Eric, Donna, Hannah & Olivia Knoester; Harry & Charlene Knoester; Anne, Robyn, Ron & Mieke Wendorff and Diana Miller; Helen, Ken, Jasmine & Karla Toews; Larry Toteda; Dennis Jr. , Susan, Kristen, Sean & Marc Trevisanutto; Leanne, Ed & Coby Lavoie; Sandy & Mark Saville and their children Joshua, Kelly & Jenna Trevisanutto and Sara Saville; three great, great grandchildren Bret, Isabelle & Jayme Lyn Miller; sisters Dicky den Heyer (Brampton, Ontario) & Leny Vos (Holland) and brother Henk Knoester (Holland). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by grandsons Robert Toteda in 1981 and Joe Trevisanutto in 2000, parents Jannigje & Maarten, eight brothers and four sisters. We admired his inner strength and perseverance. As per Andre's wishes there will be a private graveside service. Memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Thunder Bay Chapter #102-79 Court Street N. (a charity close to his heart) would be much appreciated. We would like to thank all the wonderful people who were so kind to our father, especially his neighbours Ed Bell; Kathy, Robin, Jill & Marissa Lavoie and Maxine & Bert Badanai; his special homecare provider Jolanta; the V.O.N. nurses; his long time physicians Dr. J. Reid and Dr. P. Watson; also Dr. C. Cullinan, Dr. Francois and Dr. Green for their compassion the last two weeks; and especially the excellent nurses on 3C. You are the best! We thank all our family and friends, from near and far, who were not able to be here, but were with us in thought. Whatever you did to console our heart, we sincerely thank you for your part. ~Rudy, Joanne, Louise and families. Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com"
