~Angel Avila passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2022 at the age of 85 in North Hills, California.
Angel was born to Jose and Concepcion Avila on July 13, 1936 in Ocotlán, Jalisco, Mexico. He was born Anacleto S. Avila.
He grew up in Mexico and spent his teenage years there enjoying the many cultural events and celebrations. It was in Mexico that he met the love of his life, Jovita. They got married in the late 50’s in Mexico. Angel and Jovita relocated to the United States in 1972. They purchased a house in Pacoima, California, where they made a home and raised their family. Together they raised six sons, and one daughter.
Angel was a hardworking, loyal employee who worked as a lathe operator for the aerospace company Voi-Shan Manufacturing where he remained until his retirement in the late 1990’s.
With more free time on his hands, Angel and his devoted wife, Jovita of more than 60 years enjoyed spending their time with their children, grandchildren, and he was fortunate enough to have many great-grandchildren. In addition to spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed traveling. He loved taking trips all over Mexico, Hawaii, and day trips to the Casinos enjoying his favorite foods: pizza, onion rings, nachos and hamburgers with onions.
Angel and Jovita joined the Las Palmas Senior Club in San Fernando, California shortly after his retirement. He loved to travel with his friends and participate in all of the events that were put on by the club. He especially enjoyed the many dances that were held by the club where they made some great memories. He was a superfan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. You could always find Angel watching the game from home if he was not at Dodger Stadium, in his infamous satin Dodger jacket. He particularly enjoyed going to the casinos. When he wasn’t at the club, or watching a Dodger game, you could find him drawing or writing poems. He was a true artist at heart.
He is survived by his devoted wife Jovita, Children: Rene, Angel (Carlota), Alma, Jose (Isabel), Charles (MaryAnn), Mario (Laura) and Richard (Kim). Grandchildren: Rene Jr, Rudy, Angel, Sam, Albert, Alejandra, Alfred, Veronica, Robert, Monica, Michael, Megan, Michelle, Adrian, Jovan, Dahlia, Ethan, Hailey and Luke. Great-grandchildren: Joevany, Aaron, Justin, Ashley, Sarah, Camila, Daniel, Benjamin, Delilah, Dom, Ryan, Oliver, Emily, Evelyn, Dameon, Sophia, Christian, Nayeli, plus two more on the way, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Angel was the Patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed. He will forever live in our hearts and we will never forget him.
