Angela Doyle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2025.
Angela Lynn (Gray) Doyle, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. She was a resident of Easton for the past 37 years.

Angela was born on June 26, 1937, to Ruth and William Gray in Fort Thomas, KY. She was named Angela due to maternal complications during birth. As a young child, Angela survived polio.

Angela graduated from Highland High School; DePauw University and she earned her master's degree in education from the University of Cincinnati. After earning master's degree, she taught fifth grade in Ohio. Angela married Lawrence James Doyle Jr. on May 12, 1962. They moved to Trumbull, CT in 1966 and had three daughters: Molly, Laura, and Abby.

Angela loved socializing and she had many interests and hobbies. She was an active member of the Easton Garden Club and an instructor at the Connecticut Audubon Society. Angela loved anything nature related, especially taking care of abandoned baby birds or squirrels and watching wildlife in her backyard. Angela loved teaching exercise classes, water aerobics and mom and tot swim classes for the Town of Trumbull. She was an active member of Trinity Church, serving on the Vestry, as a Sunday school teacher and on the Altar Guild for many years. She enjoyed taking hiking trips to various European locations with her second husband Lou. Angela loved spending time with her family laughing, taking beach vacations, going on long walks, playing Scrabble, and keeping up to date with the busy lives of her daughters and her eight grandchildren. Angela enjoyed staying in touch with her family and friends with frequent phone calls and lunch dates. Angela never met a stranger, giving compliments about beautiful smiles or sparkly teeth to everyone she encountered.

Angela was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Doyle 7/28/1933 – 4/3/1993.

Angela is survived by her longtime companion Louis Payne, her three daughters, eight grandchildren and one great grandson: Molly Michaels (Chris) and their two children and their spouses Kiley Moxon (Pac) and Christopher Michaels (Julie) and her only great grandson, Van, Laura Currey (Mike) and their four children Michael, Madeline "Maddie", Amelia "Mia" and Katherine "Katie" along with her youngest daughter Abby Doyle (Brad) and her children Jack and Elise.

Angela will be buried next to her loving husband, Larry, in a private memorial service in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, CT.

Molly, Abby, Laura, and family,
My heart is broken over the loss of Angela, my dear and wonderful friend. We grew up together in Fort Thomas and only several months ago we were talking and laughing about fun things we did growing up. My memories are with me every day and I hope all of your wonderful memories will help you find peace.
Love,
Phyllis Freedman

We knew Angela for a short time as her neighbors, but she always welcomed us in with a big smile and hugs. She shared her backyard rhubarb without hesitation. When we dropped off Christmas cookies, she would delight in a chat so both she and Lou could hear what our family had been up to. Every time I called her to check in, or mention a bear in the back yard, she would make me laugh so hard. She was a delightful, wonderful lady, and will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
