Angela Ray Obituary

Angela Marie Ray "Mojo" age 37, of Maceo, went to party like a Rockstar with her Pop in Heaven November 4, 2018. She was a 1999 graduate of Daviess County High School and a 2015 graduate of Ross Education Center as a certified medical coder and phlebotomist. Angela grew up playing softball and loved traveling with the Kentucky Tomboys. She could gun down a base runner who was sliding into home plate with her rocket of an arm from the outfield fence and always excelled at the plate. She was best known for her abilities as a switch hitter and could hit the ball to any point on the field if necessary. As she got older, Angela traded her bat and glove for a cue stick and boy was she fierce. She was one of the top-ranked female pool players in Owensboro. She battled anyone that wanted to try their luck and would stay committed until the very last stroke. She loved the competition of the game and some of her greatest memories came while competing against Jeanette Lee and even beating Helena Thornfeldt. She had the opportunity to compete several times at the A.P.A. National Tournament in Las Vegas and we were and are so proud of her. Angela was so damn loyal (at times to a fault) and she rose to meet every challenge that was ever brought to her. She never met a stranger and even, as a small child, her Mom and Pop always worried she would wonder off with a stranger. Her heart was just that big and her laugh…oh her laugh was so infectious. She could make you laugh even when you thought you could cry…and that laugh will be missed by so many. Angela was preceded in death by her badass Pop, Stephen M. Ray on January 27, 2012. She had missed him with every breath she took since he passed, and we can only imagine the reunion between those two and the awesomeness that occurred. It brings us joy even in this time of such tremendous sorrow. Angela is survived and already missed so incredibly by her loving and most adoring mother, Karen Ray of Owensboro, her older sister and life-long protector, Stephanie Dunn and her husband Jared, also of Owensboro, and her most precious fur-baby, Nakita. Sharing of memories by family and friends will begin at 5:00 P.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, Virginia 22202 or to the Warrick Humane Society, 5722 Vann Road, Newburgh, Indiana 47630. I cannot fathom the heartbreak. My family is sending prayers up for her, your family, and loved ones. She was blessed to have you in her life and I feel certain she felt the same. To have a sister like Steph in her corner is such a blessing. Gone too soon and sorely missed. She is in her Daddy's arms again.

I am so saddened by this. Nothing I say makes this any better which is just as well since I don't know what to say. I have always loved the Ray family and all of you have held a special place in my heart. Coaches aren't supposed to outlive their ball players. I'll always remember the personality, the smile, the purple hair, and the hug I would get every time I saw Angela. She always made me feel loved. I'll miss that.
