Angela Marina Risi

Angela Marina Risi, beloved daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend tragically had her life taken from her on Monday, October 2nd at the age of 30. She is survived by her parents, Matt and Patty Risi, her brothers, Anthony, Michael, and Joseph Risi, and many more extended family members and friends.

Angela was born in San Diego, California on February 23rd, 1993. From an early age she was involved in what would become her life's passion, dance. She started young with ballet, modern, jazz, and tap dance. She eventually joined the Clairemont High School cheerleading team and as an extracurricular she trained in the circus arts such as the lyra, silks, and Spanish web. Angela graduated from Clairemont High School in 2011 and attended San Diego State University where she graduated summa cum laude in 2016 with a double major in English and Psychology.

In 2017 Angela moved to Chicago, IL where she lived for the next five years. During this period she worked at the University of Chicago Humanities Department and spent her time exploring the city and creating lasting friendships. Throughout her last year there, she trained daily at the Chicago Movement Collective in preparation for her eventual move to Durham, NC where she would pursue her MFA in Dance at Duke University. She had completed her first year of the two year MFA program. We will never get to know how the rest of Angela's story would have unfolded, but we do know that she touched and inspired every person she encountered with her infectious energy, spontaneous joy, and whimsical spirit.
