Angelle Amara Richards (nee Nwana), a beloved mother of two, passed from this life into eternity after a sudden illness on March 28th, 2019 in Irving Texas. She was 52 years old. One who the family could always count on for support, wisdom and fashion advice. Ada Mazi. Growing up, and at UNN, where she obtained her Bachelors and Masters degrees, all who knew her found her very pleasant, friendly, warm and easy to get along with. A beautiful lady with a beautiful character. Her sweet smile and loving nature endeared her to many. Angelle Amara loved the Lord and loved to sing His praises with her sweet angelic voice wherever she was. "Sister Amara" was a founding member, Elder, Music Director and lifelong supporter of The Abiding Word Gathering UNN. On this day, last year, our beloved Amy left us & joined the Saints Triumphant. We remember her in a special way in our prayers. We thank God for her life & for His goodness in our lives, & we commit her family into the hands of the Lord. That Amii was angelic is not in question, that she was melodic is known and that she was supportive to all is evident in our history. She left a vacuum in our lives, but a monument in our hearts. Amy, We miss you now, as ever. From Daddy, Mummy, Ije, Obioha, Chima & Nene NWANA.

Sister Amara was a beautiful soul. She lives in my heart forever. She was a big Sister. She inspired me and nurtured me. It's taken me a while to come to terms with her transition to glory, but I look forward to seeing her again in eternity. (My mansion has to be beside hers). Dearest Sis Amara, I love you forever - I can see you smiling. For all those you left behind, I pray we all find comfort in the love of God and legacies you left here on earth as we come to the place of understanding that oneday we shall meet to part no more. (I remember all the songs you thought us and as I write I can see you at our rehearsals teaching us "He has done Marvelous, He has done Marvelous, things praise the Lord!" Rest on Sis until we meet again. ❤❤❤

Amara (as I have always known her) has been a part of the Okereke family life forever. In all the time that I knew Amara, one feature about her personality which to me always stood out was the constant joyous smile and the seemingly never ending happiness that she exuded. I can still remember, back in the 70's the rather frightened face of a little Amara as she was pushed into the UNN swimming pool and told to get on with it. Within a few minutes the smile was back on the face followed by the laughter. I always felt that the name Amara was befitting of that warm and joyous personality and silently told myself that if God ever blessed me with a daughter, I would name her Amara. My daughter was born on 28 November 1996 and when I was asked what I would name her, without hesitation I said Amarachi.
Over the years, we have, due to circumstances, moved to different parts of the world. Consequently, and regrettably we lost the very close connection we had. In the last few years our paths crossed a few times albeit sporadically. Each time, it was evident to me that even with age and time, the smile and the laughter had not ebbed one bit. The constant big smile and warm heart remained as evident as ever. I recall an incident at the wedding of her sister, Nene, when she tried to drive a stick vehicle'. She was all over the place and the car kept squeaking, screeching and crying. I think most people would have probably lost it. Not Amara, she laughed at her comical attempt to move the car and then turned to me and asked if I wanted to drive. I wisely declined.
To say that the news of her death was a shock is a major understatement. We take solace in the fact that she has left a wonderful family and for me and my family, the fact that the name by which we have always known her lives on. I am sure that she is in heaven smiling down on us.
May God bless her soul and may she rest in perfect peace.

Aunty Amara. For many years since we were all back in Nigeria as youngsters, we all had wonderful memories built during family vacations. Lots of love, fun and laughter shared. Years later, in a different country, we all reconnected digitally. You, your mother and I share our birthday on April 3rd. Many years of exchanging birthday, Mother's Day and Season's greetings. You attended my wife Dana and I's wedding and celebrated our union. Dana was so thrilled to meet you and the rest of the Nwana clan. It was so wonderful having you here with us but little did we know it would be the last. Thank you for being you and we thank God for the life you lived. We will continue to remember you and pray for your family. We know you will be ever present in our hearts and minds. Rest In Peace dear Aunty Amara.

Aunty Amara, I still can't believe you are gone. The good Lord has called you to your heavenly home much too early for us to comprehend but we take comfort in the knowledge that you are at rest with Him. My childhood would not have been the same without all the love you showed to Okey, Chioma, Neso and I when we spent our long vacation with your family. You will forever be remembered as a gentle soul with the voice of an angel. May your soul rest in peace. Amen.

What can I say my dear sister-in-law but to thank God as he asked us to do in all things. I thank Him for a life, though cut short, was well spent in the Lord.
You dad, Omekaibeya teased you with Ocha ka omaka- you were really pretty both physically and in soul.
I thank God for letting all of us, particularly my family, bond with you last August at my son, Okechukwu and Dana's wedding in New York. You were dazzling and in good shape.
My entire family are missing you more than you know.
May you continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God angel for I know that that is where you are since your demise from this mortal world.
Rest in perfect peace.

Kene and Ijeoma Ewulu, the Nwanas, family and friends have indeed lost a jewel. May the Spirit of Almighty God renew our joys and vision to see Amy not as in a casket nor in the ground but soaring free in the Kingdom of God. Amy was my friend and counselor at Olive Tree Parish of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ikoyi, Lagos. At the time a small pioneer congregation. When happy, she shared her joy abundantly. In brief moments of being unhappy, she contained within her. In all, it was her ministry to encourage and support growth of the spirit of God in us. Amy, rest in perfect peace.

My dear brother Chima, May you be comforted in the knowledge that you are privileged to have an angel for a sister who was here on this Earth with specific assignments as a sourjourner. After quiet meditation and listening to stories of her life here I arrived at this conclusion. To miss Amara is inevitable but to mourn her is to question the one Who sent her and the same Who has called her back home. You are blessed that you have a personal angel watching over you from the Lord's bossom. Amara's seeds (her children) will grow into adulthood like Jesus with wisdom and will find favor with God and all humans. Her hubby will be ok. Your parents will be strong and healthy, your siblings and their children will be fine. You, Chito, Nathan and Zara will be just fine. God is ALL Knowing and has got all grounds covered. We bless HIM for finding your family worthy of such an angel. And we surrender to HIS will and plans for her and us all. God's blessings always. Much love, Nikki.

Amy, my Sister, I'm still in shock. You have left a void that no one can fill. I'm still coming to terms with March 28th, 2019. However I take solace with the fact that I know where you are now, in Heaven.
I still remember with great nostalgia back at UNN your mentoring and encouraging skills.
As a founding member of "BIG BROTHER'S AND SISTER'S'', you played a great role in mentoring the little boys and girls at UNN.
As a member of the CHRISTIAN UNION organization, "ABIDING WORD", you lead prayer and choir services.
I will forever remember your warm smile, that exuded nothing but empathy, hope and encouragement.
In school you were always a role model, modelling diplomacy and kindness not just through your words but through your actions.
A true fashion icon, it came naturally to you.
A combination of grace, kindness and humility that came naturally to you and indeed was who you are.
A "Sister's Sister" and a "Brothers Sister", I witnessed upfront and personally your interactions with your siblings. You very much understood the essentials of the family bond.
As a Mother, you have laid a concrete and firm foundation for Manny and Marie.
As my Sister In Law, I could not have asked God for a better person.
You have always given me nothing but good and sound advise.
It is painful to see you leave us this early, but GOD has his reasons.
Our Faith in God is being tested right now. You were a woman of Faith.
I thank God for you.
He has called you back home.
Adieu my Sister, till we meet again in Heaven.
Rest in Perfect Peace in the Bosom Of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus The Christ.
Amen.

My Baby Sister: Amara (Angelle)
You beat us all to it: the Heavenly Abode that our Lord Jesus promised to His followers.
My sadness at your passing to glory is only matched by my joy in the certainty that you rest NOW with the angels of God, where there are no tears, and where you rightfully belong.
For that, I envy you.
We that you left behind: (Ijeoma) your big sis and my soulmate, our kids (Gio, Tiffany, and EthanDavid), will continue to show forth your legacy of joy, peace, worship, and forgiveness, until our time here is done.
You have run your race with fortitude, you have finished it admirably well, and NOW, your crown of glory is yours.
Have fun, little sister, you earned it; we'll join you at our appointed times.
Affectionately,
Dr. Kene D Ewulu - Brother-in-Law.

My dearest sister, Amara, the news of your passing was a shock to all of us that knew you at Federal Government Girls' College Onitsha. You were such a happy, and generous soul. We were both members of our school's Cultural Society. I remember you taught us the dance Opanda. I chuckle at how, though you spoke Igbo with oyibo accent, you were not shy to teach us the dance. You were such a happy soul and had no malice in you. Unfortunately we did not connect with you here in the US, yet I remember you as if it were yesterday that we left high school.
May the good Lord grant you eternal rest and may the Holy Spirit comfort your family. Rest on sis.

Rest on my sister Amy till we see in glory.
Pray that our Lord will continue to comfort all those that mourn you.

I honestly don't know where to start. I can't reminisce on my childhood days back in UNN without remembering you, and the impact you had in my life. The nickname 'Chiams baby'you gave me after a spectacular musical
performance stuck till date. The days we would bake, make teddy bears, crochet, sew, experiment on different recipes and sing endlessly with Maureen Obi,are indelible in my heart. The fun we had the evening we escorted you back to your husbands village after your traditional marriage; the constant singing, acting and dancing rehearsals etc, and your continuous encouragement to be the the best in crafts and entertainment, all I have remembered. It's sad you're not here to read all these eulogies about you, but I know you are in a better place now. The songs with Stanley, Ijendu, and Maureen('You can move the mountain' and 'I behold Him' are still fresh in my mind and I will do something about them. Rest in peace my darling sister, but I these words I hold to comfort me, 'to live in the hearts and minds of those who love you, is to live forever'. Jee nke oma.

Tribute to an Angel my friend and sister Amy
With a heavy heart I write this tribute to YOU my dearest friend, sister and confidante. Amy.
I was shocked and deeply saddened when I received news of your demise. I had a lengthy telephone conversation with you on the 3rd of March. We talked for over an hour, only to be called a few weeks later and told that you had passed on.
We first met at Federal Government College, Onitsha. Even though you were a set ahead of me, we were both little girls. We met again at University of Nigeria Nsukka and became close friends.
Amy you were a very dedicated, efficient and disciplined person. You were generous and kind, always concerned about the welfare of others. Your commitment to God was evident in the way you gave yourself wholly to kingdom work. You worked tirelessly towards the growth of the Abiding Word Gathering on campus and beyond. You established the Music Ministry and raised many music ministers some of whom have become great Worship Leaders. Over the years, while working in Enugu, you would travel down to Nsukka every weekend to help with the Fellowship, impacting many with your wise counsel and Godly advice for which many of our brethren are standing strong today. Your home at 404 Elias Avenue on campus became a sort of rallying point for many of us, associated with you. You were a familiar figure, always helping with logistics too ..........with Mummys 504.
We shared a lot together. We laughed together, cried together, sang together and prayed together. You were my rock. You were also a very industrious person. We discovered that we both had a love for craft. I remember how we took over the study upstairs, at 404 Elias Avenue and would spend endless hours cutting patterns and fabric for stuffed toys. Sometimes we got furry fabric all the way from Aba and would work into the night to be able to meet a deadline, whenever we had orders for teddy bears. Looking back, I wonder how Mummy must have felt, coming in daily from work, to see the clutter in the study and flecks of wool and foam floating along the corridor upstairs.
In Lagos, we both attended weekly classes at Alliance Franchaise, Yaba. In our free time, we would check out virtually every bookstand at Ojuelegba and Marina, looking for books and magazines with dress patterns. I remember how we would walk down Shipeolu Street, checking every Christian Bookshop in search of Kenneth Hagin Books. These memories bring tears to my eyes.
We chatted non-stop when Zubie and I visited you, Ernest, Emmanuel and Maria two years ago in Irving Dallas. I didnt know that it was going to be the last time we would physically see each other on this side of eternity. Our telephone conversation few weeks to you demise was also going to be our last. Oh, how I wish we engaged more!!!
Amy, Angelle, my dearest friend and sister, a part of you will always remain with me. My lifes testimony will never be complete without the mention of you and the impact you made in my life. I miss you dearly, but I take comfort in the fact that you have gone home to be with the Lord, already joining the choir in Heaven, singing a never-ending song.
Rest in peace Amy!!.

Beloved of God, AdaZion, Busomma, my dear Sister Amara:

Your sudden and untimely call to glory was a rude shock to all of us who knew and loved you. You were a perfectionist with a heart of gold and the voice of a nightingale. Much to my dismay, we had no contact after our Abiding Word Gathering, UNN days, until I learned of your sudden departure to join the heavenly choir. Even though my heart aches, I am comforted in the knowledge that you kept the faith until the very end. Indeed, to die and be forever with the Lord of our salvation is sheer bliss and our blessed hope; however, being human, my heart still aches that you left this earth in your prime.

Thank you for your sacrificial labor of love for the brethren. Yours was a life marked by distinction in every sphere of human endeavor. You made a palpable difference in so many lives, and I know that your many acts of kindness are recorded in heaven and upon many hearts on earth.

To your beloved family, I pray the Lord of all comfort dry your tears and comfort you in His special way.

Until we meet again to part no more, rest on in His presence, my precious Sister. Love you forever!❤

Sister Amara - That is how we have always known you. Your life and ministry challenged all of us that met you in Abiding Word to live worthy of the calling. You certainly left the earth a better place by the life you lived - giving, loving, yielding, leading - for the LORD. You have simply gone home. And though we mourn, we are comforted as we look forward to that glorious day of reunion. We pray for comfort and peace for your family. Thank you for giving to the Lord . . . and to us.

Sis Amara,I thank God for using you to touch lives of which I am one of. You made us realize how serious and important the music ministry is to God when you were the music director in the Abiding word gathering back in those days at UNN.You made yourself a vessel of honor in God's hands.
I am comforted knowing that you're resting in God's bosom and singing with the heavenly choir. Rest on my dear sister,Rest on in the Lord.
You will be really missed

I never met you but I heard so many good things about you from my Pastor, Rev. Tim Aitonje and your selfless work at The Abiding Word Gathering, UNN. I was looking forward to the day I'd meet you in the flesh. Well, we'll meet again but somewhere much better. My condolences to all you've left behind. Love.

Sister Amara,

It is difficult to say goodbye but I know that on that beautiful morning, when the saints are gathered in, we will all rejoice together as we reunite.

You were an inspiration, a wonderful music minister who imparted our lives hugely, even as young as you were. I pray the good Lord will console your husband, children, parents and all you left behind.

Sister Amara, you are a phenomenon! As a young member of the Abiding Word Gathering, I was in awe of you: your grace and carriage, your voice, your discipline, your passion for God and ministry, your wisdom...everything. We have cried, we have reminisced, we have shared beautiful memories of you. And now, we think wistful of how you must be serenading the Lord with your beautiful voice. You are loved very much. Our prayers are with your parents and your family, all of them who loved you even more. Sleep on, dear Sister.

Amara, It was with great shock that I received the news of your passing. My only consolation is that you died in the Lord. You were such a pleasant child of God who left much to be remembered in the hearts of many. My first music director way back at UNN in the mid 80s, who always brought us to touch heaven through your anointed music ministrations. How can we forget you in a hurry? We all, of the the Abiding Word family & beyond will miss you immensely, & also look forward to seeing you again in bosom of the Lord. Rest in perfect until we meet to part no more.
On behalf of myself & family, and of course the entire Abiding Word family worldwide, my condolences to the husband & children, the parents & siblings. May the Lord grant you the grace to bear this great loss. .. Rev. Tim Aitonje.(President & founder, The Abiding Word ministries, worldwide)

Amara dear sister
You remain a leading light and pioneer of the 1980s Pentecostal revival in Eastern Nigeria. So shattered by your untimely departure. The Lord will comfort your immediate and extended family as well as your spiritual family who continue to cherish your memory.
