Richard Medeiros Obituary

Richard Medeiros, 73 years old, passed away after a brief illness Monday, Feb. 18, 2013. Born in Taunton, Dec. 26, 1939, son of the late Alves and Mary (Sousa) Medeiros. Richard attended Walker Grammar School and was a graduate of Taunton Vocational High School. Richie continued his studies at Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Institute. For many years, he was employed by Texas Instruments in Attleboro as a foreman. Upon his retirement from TI, he fulfilled his day by spending time with his grandchildren. He was devoted to his grandchildren and love to speak of their interests and accomplishments. Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman, who also enjoyed researching stocks with friends on his computer. He was also an expert mechanic who could always be counted upon by friends and family to take care of any problem that they might have. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his loving wife for over 50 years, Theresa Terry (Bousquin) Medeiros; as well as his three daughters, Lorna Medeiros of Raynham, Shelia Perry and her husband Troy of Norton and Donna Francis and her husband Andrew of Taunton. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Alex, Benjamin, Christopher, Douglas and Rebecca Francis. He was the brother of Joseph Medeiros of Wareham, Atty. Alan Medeiros of Dighton, Louise Foster of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Elizabeth Champagne of Fall River and Celeste Medeiros of Berkley. He was also the brother of the late Francis Medeiros, Edward Medeiros, and Doris Sousa. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and graet-nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Rte. 138 South), Taunton, Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Anns Church, Raynham, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Richard Medeiros Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 7, Taunton, MA 02780.
