Angelo Ruffo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 22 to Jun. 23, 2006.
OBITUARY ANGELO PAUL RUFFO August 23, 1933 - June 20, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Angelo Ruffo after a valiant and long battle with brain cancer. Beloved husband of Milda (Bilevicius), much-loved father of Monica and Robert, dear Grandpa of Alexandre and Tristan, he is also mourned by his mother Aurelia Ruffo, his brother Robert (Ann), his mother-in-law Ona Bilevicius and many other relatives and friends. He is pre-deceased by his father Paul Ruffo and his brother John (Margaret). Born and educated in Toronto, Angelo moved to Montreal 1956, where he enjoyed a long and successful career with Johnson & Johnson. Over the years, he also served on many boards including Nikon. His final project was Topigen, a biotech company that he helped to establish and where he served as CEO until he became too ill to work. Angelo loved his family passionately. They were his pride and joy. A man of great faith, he also was a great believer in civic duty. His generosity was legendary and he leaves us all with a gift of courage, determination and hope. He kept smiling until the day he died. The family will receive condolences on Friday, June 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Complexe Funeraire Urgel Bourgie, 1255 Beaumont, Town of Mount Royal. The funeral mass will take place Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m. at Annunciation Parish, 1020 Laird Blvd., Town of Mount Royal. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute c/o Dr. Rolando Del Maestro, Room 109, 3801 University Street, Montreal, Quebec, H3A 2B4.

Dear Milda and Ruffo family,

Although I was aware of Angie's ill health, I regrettably missed the notice in the papers and just found out about his passing yesterday.

My wife Nazlin and our children join me in extending our hearfelt condolences to you all on this very heavy personal loss. We pray that his soul rests in eternal peace. Amen.

I have great and very fond memories of Angie - he gave me my first job at J&J for which I have been eternally grateful given my status as a new immigrant at the time.

Angie was a friend, a mentor and a sage confidant - there are very few like him and the world is poorer in his passing. I shall miss him dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Warm personal regards,

Feroz Kassam

It is with great sadness that I learn of Angelo's passing. Though recalling him as a fine and loyal business client of many years ago in Montreal, more importantly, Angelo will always be fondly remembered as a warm, caring person,a friendly acquaintance in our New Bordeaux community where both of our families resided.

My thoughts are with his wife and children, mother, Robert, Ann and their family,

Mario Thomas
