Ella Wilhelmina (Duhai) Boldt, 92, passed peacefully on May 17, 2016. She was born in Chicago on September 16, 1923 to Peter and Katherine (Kauk) Duhai. She was united in marriage to Orman Boldt on August 25, 1945 at St. John's Evangelical Church in Naperville, IL. They spent the next 63 years together before his passing in 2009.

Before beginning her life journey with Orman as his partner in farming, she worked at Kroehler Furniture Company. She was also a cook's assistant at Valley View School for a number of years.

She was active in the community as a 4-H leader for 26 years in DeKalb and Will County. Ella and Orman were awarded Citizens of the Year by the Waterman Business Association where they were members. She was a very active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville with the Walther League youth group. After moving to Waterman, she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years as well as being involved in various other church activities.

Ella was known for her cooking and baking skills, especially her apple pie slices. Many benefited from her crocheting skills with beautiful afghans.

She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to Margaret (Robert) McDonald Sr, Kenneth (Donna) Boldt, and Lawrence (Karla) Boldt all of Waterman. Grandchildren, Tammy McDonald, Chicago, Robert (Jennifer) McDonald, Gilberts, Christopher (Irma) Boldt, Aurora, Carrie (Marcos) Cruz, DeKalb, Kelly (Gary) Krajec, Yorkville, and Megan Boldt. Great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, and Antonio Cruz, Audrey, Bryce, and Cayden McDonald, Ava, and Aiden Boldt. She is survived by her sisters, Katherine Pantke, Tucson, AZ, Mary Pfaff, Yorkville, Ann Calaway, Grand Marsh, WI, Laura Calaway, Peoria, and Josie (Paul) Strong, Yorkville; sisters-in-law, Norma Duhai, Naperville, Pat Duhai, Monroe, WI, and Judy Duhai, Westmont; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Henry, and Robert Duhai; sister, Johanna Jackson; brothers-in-law, Harvey (Pearl) Boldt, Clarence (Eleanor) Boldt, Leonard (Florence) Boldt, Harry Pantke, Earl Pfaff, Ray Calaway, Frank Calaway, Herbert Jackson; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dan) Bieniak.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hinckley, IL. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Hinckley, IL. Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield St., Waterman, IL.

My wife (May) and I used to live in Dekalb. We enjoyed our friendship with the Boldts...Orman, Ella, Larry and Becky. Our love and sympathies to all the family.
