So sad to hear of Mrs. Newberry's passing. She was a very sweet lady, and I have very fond memories of growing up in the 70s and 80s visiting the house on McGinty. The Newberry's treated me like family with my friendship to Paul. Somber memory of being there with Paul, Susan and her when Mr. Newberry passed away. Mrs Newberry will live on in my happy memories of growing up in Alvin. Heaven is a better place with her.

In our hearts we will always remember
Anita's live from start to end.
Her twinkling eyes her beautiful smile
And her tongue which she stuck out now and then.
But mostly we are glad we knew you,
As Mother and as Friend.

(Thank you Susan for writing her story)

Yes the smile was always there!! I met Anita when my mother moved into Crowley nursing home. Anita was often seen at a table in front of the cafeteria playing games with her daughter, Susan, and son-in-law, John. She was a delight!! What a celebration took place when she stepped into her eternal home!!!

From a grandchild - I have a ton of great memories but favorites are when she would say something like I'll be switched or something else outlandish while she felt behind in a game that she would end up winning even as she started having more memory issues! Also loved my time when she lived with us when I was in high school and would mess with her by sneaking around and trying to lock her in the walk in pantry. The goal was to get her to stick out that cute little tongue!!!

Susan, so sorry for your loss. Anita lived a very full life. Lots of love and laughter - and kids. Yes, I do remember her hats, and her faithful attendance at church. Prayers for you all at this time.

She lived a very BIG and full life. I know you will miss her. But now, her memory is perfected and she is always going to be watching over you. Thoughts and prayers to all her family and friends.

This is one awesome tribute to Anita. We enjoyed every minute of reading it. She will live on in my memory as one of my most favorite people in the world. Love and hugs to all the family and the many friends who will also miss her. With all our love, Kathy and Louis

From 1 of the grandchildren: Favorite memories include games and Nanny's "swear" word/phrases while she pretend to be a helpless old lady in a game that she was going to win even when she had issue remembering other details. Also having her live with us while I was in High School and trying to get under her skin by sneaking around or locking her in the walk in pantry. Like mom says she always wore that smile but when you really got her she'd stick out that cute little tongue!

We have many wonderful memories of Anita and Uncle Pug [Vinton] both in Stanton and then in Alvin. She was a great example of determination and faith.
