Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 27th at 10:00 am in South Pasadena at Calvary Presbyterian Church with a small tea, punch, and cookies reception afterwards.

I have known Sue Norton since she was 16. We met first when our families took the same Cruise Ship to Alaska. I hung out with her younger brother Richard, and we fished from a wharf in Juno, AK. My older brother, Allen Norton, was immediately infatuated with Sue and later became her supportive and loving husband.
Sue loved Children and Animals. Her heart seemed all-encompassing. She helped children from many social circumstances, both through her Church and on her own. For many years she worked with handicapped children and also fostered not only children but also entire refugee families.
Sue was devoted to her three daughters Marcia, Donna and Margret. And their devotion to Sue was often evident. Marcia was with Sue during her last days.
In addition to caring for Children she also rescued and raised cats, dogs, a skunk, ferret, turkey, duck, monkey and gibbon, and had a special aviary for beautiful songbirds. Visiting her and my brother in their home in South Pasadena was an experience to be remembered and cherished. I wish her family well. Jerry Norton

As a kid, I remember Aunt Sue being bright, fun and full of life!
But my true connection with Aunt Sue came when I was an adult with my own children. Aunt Sue came to my wedding and it was so special having her travel a great distance to attend.
She also did the long drive from Pasadena to Santa Cruz around 2018 and visited my family. My boys were very young at the time and they adored her and she adored them. It was in that visit that I felt we really connected and it was abundantly clear that we cared for each other deeply.
In 2020, I visited her in Pasadena. We had a really lovely visit and spoke candidly about our thoughts and wishes. She loved all 3 of her daughter so very much.
I´m thankful for the time I had with Aunt Sue and for the connection we had. She will be missed.

I have had the privilege of having Sue both as my sister-in-law and also as step-sister. Sue was loving, giving and effervescent and she brought joy to so many of us. I am grateful for the many years we shared and send sincere condolences to her remaining family.

I will always remember Aunt Sue with a smile almost as big as her laughter, so joyfully welcoming and full of love, even with a monkey, turkey,...a skunk and a parrot that left you with a lot of questions. Aunt sue still stands out as the star of a visit to the southern Nortons.

Dear Nortons,
I´m sending love and condolences from the Haisman family, Harvey, Shirley, my sister Kathie and myself, Wendy.
We were very active in the Faith United Presbyterian Church for many years and have many fond memories of Sue, who was also quite involved in many church events.
My parents recall one particular adventure our families shared as we caravanned to visit the Grand Canyon. Our family used a rented RV and the Nortons travelled in their very quirky 8 door airport limousine. We briefly hiked because there were many little kids, some wearing harnesses and child-safe leashes because of the cliffs. It had snowed overnight and was a very cold and memorable trip!
We all recall Sue´s lovely, grand and dramatic style and her dear gibbon friend Lampang, who we all enjoyed visiting whenever we stopped by the family´s big house on Monterey Rd. We were always entertained when he sometimes snuck tasty bits of food from the plates of the folks gathered.
Sue and Allen hosted annual church family New Year´s Eve parties for many years, snacking and playing games until the kids were allowed to bang on pots and pans at midnight!
My dad remembered her sweet tooth and how she always enjoyed a box of See´s chocolate for her birthday or other holiday!
My mom recalled Sue´s involvement in Bible Study Fellowship and her impressive understanding of the Bible.
We all hope that these few memories will comfort and amuse you, knowing that Sue was a dear friend and is fondly remembered.
God bless you all and we pray for the gathering time, celebrating her life here on earth as we await that great reunion when we all get to heaven! Love & hugs to you all.
