In Memory of Aunt Anita - By Sagiv Shoshan Batsheva (Shevi) - Nephew

__________________________________________________________________
It could had happened that Anita might be my Mom´s Sister in Law. But, unfortunately, it didn´t.... My Mom, Zuza, was Alex´s (Eli) and Gadi´s elder sister. She passed away at the age of 36 (1950), while leaving our Dad, Nahum a young sad widower, and my brother Boaz and me - tiny little orphans.

In the summer of 1957, we were all happy with Alex´s choice: marrying his beloved one - Anita Bergerman, our most beautiful and youngest aunt.

Some years later, Uncle Alex and Aunt Anita went over the ocean to live in the U.S.A. , and we managed to contact with them and with our beloved cousins Annette, Ohr and Shirely via letters and rare visits.

Years passed; life went on...
During the years 2001-2004, my father and young brother Gadi passed away. For me, the void was huge and the wish to fill it was urgent.

So, in the summer of 2007, I suggested to Uncle Eli (Alex) and Aunt Anita, to come visit us in Israel.
A couple of days later, Uncle Eli called me back: "My suggestion is that instead of both of us coming over to Israel, you come to visit with us."
We agreed that I would come in January. The weather in Florida is nice during that season. And so I did. I packed all that I wanted to share with my uncle and aunt.
My Aunt Anita and Uncle Alex waited for me in Sarasota´s small airport like a couple of doves....

At home, every morning, while having breakfast, we were swept toward the family stories, focusing on the most unknown ones. There were so many of them, some are almost unbelievable.
Every day I woke up at dawn and within minutes, I was turning pages in the family photo albums. Thank you, Anita, for letting me look at them (and there are lots of...) I was turning pages in the history books that you, Eli left me on the table.
Finally, after 3 visits, (2009) the collection of memoirs was completed: "The Weinberg Family Saga", uniting Anita's Life Story.

Thank you, Aunt Anita, and Uncle Eli, for making me feel beloved and mostly welcomed by opening your hearts and home for me. The unforgettable intimate atmosphere, conversations and gestures that we were in are with me forever.
After Uncle Eli passed away, (2014) while visiting you, Anita, (2018) in Austin, I felt the same opening of your heart at the new tiny sweet dwelling unit in Querencia at Barton Creek.

Thank you so much, always be loving you

Dear Mom,
It has already been a month since your passing and there is not a day that I don´t miss you and think about you. I am so thankful to you and Dad for being our inspiration, for the example you set for our family, for all of the memories you provided for us to cherish, and for your gift of unconditional love.
I am very grateful that you moved to Austin in 2018 and that I was able to share each day with you. Our family was blessed to share every special occasion with you and we will keep those memories close to our hearts, always.
Though your last year was difficult, I will be forever thankful for the 24/7 compassionate care provided by your outstanding caregiving team and the staff at Querencia, who loved you as if you were their own mother. We extend special thanks to Monique Limon, Elaine Matthews, Lorena Jara Ranno, Miladys Romero, and Criscelda Salcido; nurses Stacey Gonzales, Anna Lacoste and Michelle Sova; and Querencia team members Constance Fields and Alex Lozoria. Your team always went above and beyond, making each day memorable. Your favorite actress was Audrey Hepburn. To celebrate your last birthday, your 89th, your incredible team organized a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed birthday bash with a small group of close friends, including your dear friend, Martha Chambers. I will treasure the wonderful memory of your smile at this last birthday.
Mom, you lived a long and remarkable life. I am so lucky to be your daughter. Thank you.
I love you forever,
Annette
