Ann "Annie" Gwinn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2018.
Annie was an old soul born under the biggest and brightest moon we have ever seen. Her birth brought so much joy and happiness to all of us. Richfield, MN was her childhood home. It was filled with many fond memories. Her friends then were such an important part of her existence, and they all loved her free spirit. Her life struggles began in her teens, and ended with an unintentional overdose on October 11, 2018. Annie's biggest achievement and greatest joy was her two daughters; Megan (16) and Lauren (15). She was so very proud of them, and the love they shared was unbreakable. There were so many happy moments for the three of them. They shared a love of music, horror movies, snuggling, laughter, trips and "going up north," which is the place Annie felt the safest. There she could be truly free. During the last few years, Annie isolated more while struggling with her demons, only finding solace in her addiction. She so badly wanted a happier and better life for herself and her daughters, but the disease took hold and wouldn't let go. We believed and hoped, as we always did, that she would overcome and live the life she deserved. We are devastated, but Annie is now free and at peace. She leaves behind a family that grieves for her and so many lost chances. If love could have saved her, she would have been here forever. She is survived by her daughters Megan and Lauren; her cats Rowena, Ligeia, and Jezebel; Mom Carol; Dad Ted; sister Michelle (Tim) Potter and nieces Sarah and Sophie. A 10:30 am celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Unity South Church, 7950 First Ave So, Bloomington, MN 55420. Memorials are preferred to Carol or Ted for the benefit of Megan and Lauren: 13450 Settlers Ridge Dr., Burnsville, MN 55337

You don't personally know me,but addiction brings us all closer together. I know your daughter did not want this for herself or her family and I know this from experience , I'm a recovering addict, 3 years clean. I put my family through so much for many many years until it got so bad that they said enough, I had a granddaughter and I didn't want her to see me the way i was so I made up my mind to try something new, I work a N/A program and with my higher power and this program I'm alive . I just wanted to say you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers, and by you posting this it will spread the word about addiction, it is a diese but with help it can be arrested.

Carol and family, I'm sending the warmest of condolences for the loss of your sweet Annie. One of my fondest memories of her is from years ago when she would babysit my brother Brandon and I. She made the best mac n' cheese! I still think of her when I ma

Carol and family, I'm sending the warmest of condolences for the loss of your sweet Annie. One of my fondest memories of her is from years ago when she would babysit my brother Brandon and I. She made the best mac n' cheese! I still think of her when I make it. I will also never forget how much fun we had one New Years Eve. She made colorful paper confetti with us and we ran around the front yard at midnight throwing confetti and banging on pots and pans. Such a great memory for two young kids. I'm sure Heaven's more colorful than ever with her in it. Praying time and precious memories bring your family healing and comfort.

Oh my Lord! I am so sorry. I was talking about your family last week, someone wanted a guide in the Boundary Waters and I wondered if your husband still led trips. I was thinking of Annie. I swear to you that it was when she died. In a crazy way, she wasn't alone at her passing because she was in my thoughts, hoping that she found solace. The world is a curious place and her energy will always leave its imprint.

Annie,
We lost touch a long time ago, but when I think about all the times we hung out and when I went up north with your family, I smile.
I hope you are at peace and can rest now.
