Ann Burghardt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2023.
Devoted daughter, wonderful wife, marvelous mother, supportive sister and incredible grandmother, Ann Marie (Towne) Burghardt, passed into the arms of Jesus on May 19, 2023 at the age of 72. The family's loss is immense. Ann was born on April 5, 1951, in Rochester New York, to Arthur Towne and Eleanor (Group) Towne. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Marshall High School in 1969. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1974 where she met her husband of 48 years, Jon Burghardt. She worked for the Xerox corporation before transitioning to a full-time caregiver to her children. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband, a devoted mother to her children, a caring daughter to her mother, a guiding sister to her siblings, a compassionate friend and an avid servant for Jesus.

Ann lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for quilting, sewing, original handmade crafts and serving God. She created intricate quilts and numerous wedding dresses for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, reading, solving puzzles and teaching Bible Studies.
Ann was kind and generous, putting others' needs before her own. Ann was a willing and hard worker who never hesitated to roll up her sleeves to do whatever needed to be done. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious laugh and warm personality. She was lovingly nicknamed "Marmie" by her grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her father Arthur Towne. She is survived by her mother Eleanor; her husband Jon; her siblings Daniel, Jean, Pamela, and Hollie; her children Paul, Jill, Jody and Kyle; her
grandchildren Evan, Paige, Bennett, Lillian, Leland, Margret, Preston, Eloise, Gabriel, and Lucy; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Awana International in memory of Ann Burghardt.
Rest in peace. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Jon, Paul, Jill, Jody and Kyle,
My heart breaks for you all. Ann , (your mom) was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I have such wonderful memories of sewing with her, working in Awana, going to Mops, and working on many projects and committees with her at Grace. She was a great friend and example to all. I thank the Lord to be able to know her and have been a part of her life. Thank God there will be a wonderful reunion in heaven.
She loved you all with every fiber of her being. Praying for God´s comfort and strength for you all.
In His love, Linda (Mrs. D.)

Jon, Paul, Kyle, Jill & Jody (and family), my heart is aching alongside you all. Ann was special in so many ways. She was always, always, always gracious and kind to me and was instrumental in growing my love for the Lord and quilting. She altered many prom and wedding dresses for my daughters and myself and her love and kindness will always be a treasure of mine. I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm praying that knowing she is with Jesus gives you peace. Much love to you all, Karen Haight
