Ann Hauer, 61, died July 27, 2004, at Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 31, at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with her nephew, Father David Richter, officiating.  Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bismarck.

Visitation will be Friday, July 30, from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 West Turnpike Avenue, Bismarck.  All are welcome to attend a rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM on Friday at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service.

Ann was born on September 19, 1942, in Braddock, North Dakota, to Ray and Mildred (Kippes) Splonskowski, the fourth child of eleven.  She grew up on the family farm near Braddock and attended grade school in Braddock.  She moved to Bismarck when she was fourteen where she worked to support herself and put herself through Saint Mary's High School in Bismarck.

She then earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Mary.  Ann later went on to earn a master's degree in educational administration from the University of North Dakota.  Ann taught elementary school in Bismarck for twenty-six years, mainly teaching sixth grade at Roosevelt Elementary School.  Ann was a brilliant educator and received numerous teaching awards including Teacher of the Year Award from the Bismarck Public Schools; the Bismarck Area Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education Award; and she was the first Crystal Apple Award winner.  She was president of the Bismarck Education Association and was very involved in all types of educational pursuits, even teaching other teachers during the summer as an adjunct professor for the University of North Dakota.  Ann loved being a teacher and it showed in the numerous lives that she touched in the classroom.

Ann married James Hauer on June 26, 1965, in Bismarck and they made their home there.  They are the parents of two children, Todd Hauer and Melissa Hauer.  Ann loved making floral arrangements and playing piano.  She was a terrific wife and mother.  She hand-sewed her children's Halloween costumes, always made sure her family sat down together to eat a home cooked dinner each night, and she willingly volunteered her time as a Cub Scout or Brownie leader.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jim of Bismarck; her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Marie Hauer of Lone Tree, Colorado; her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Hauer and Darren Silbernagel of Bismarck; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Victor Richter of Menoken, North Dakota, Agnes and Adam Vetter of Linton, North Dakota, Helen and Emil Dobler of Bismarck, Rita and Mac Falconer of Bismarck, and Alice and Bruce Schatz of Temvik, North Dakota; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Splonskowski of Bismarck, John and Carol Splonskowski of Jamestown, Marvin and Mary Splonskowski of Bismarck, France Splonskowski and Holly Morrell of Bismarck, and Jerry and Kathy Splonskowski of Bismarck.  Ann was a grandmother of three granddaughters and one grandson and beloved aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Ann loved flowers and would be honored with remembrances, but in lieu of flowers, those so wishing may contribute to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 700 Broadway Ave. Suite 810, Denver, Colorado 80203-3442.
