Obituary:

Ann Virginia Hobbick (nee Bonasera) passed away on April 20, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 81. She was born on September 8, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ann is survived by her sister Barbara (Louis) Blaido, her children: Gregory (Johnna) Emond , Anthony (Deborah) Emond , Susan Emond, and Joseph (Sarah) Emond. She is survived by 3 step-children, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family, including her brother-in-law Dan (Linda) Hobbick and sister-in-law Joan (Tom) Harris.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Hobbick, her son Jerome Emond, and her brother John Bonasera.

Ann graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis in 1960, but it wasn't until the 1980's when she was finally able to attend college at the University of Minnesota. She pursued her education as a single mother of 5, also maintaining her family, home, employment, personal life and sobriety. Her tenacity and dedication to her chosen path allowed her to become a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (L-ADC). Throughout her life, Ann was an important advocate to countless others who embraced sobriety. She was a friend of Bill W.

Ann loved nothing more than her family and friends. Her excitement at holidays was infectious and it was with great anticipation she prepared her home, meals and loved ones for the next upcoming event. She would call each person attending multiple times to ensure they knew what they should bring and when to be there.

Later in life, she lovingly cared for her husband Bob as his health declined. Although her passing felt untimely, she was at peace with the world and frequently mentioned how much she missed her husband in the 3 months since he passed.

A memorial Mass to celebrate Ann's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 1, 2024, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, located at 525 Jackson St., Anoka, MN. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka, MN.

Ann will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
