Ann Flynn Mangan, 64, of Camillus, passed away Monday at Francis House following a courageous eight year battle with cancer, with her loving family by her side. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Ann attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and was a graduate of West Genesee High School. She retired in 2009 after 20 years as a secretary with the West Genesee Central School District. She was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church and currently a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church. Ann enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on Pillar Pointe, playing Bunco, taking cruises and traveling with great friends and family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Dennis, in 2012; sister, Judy LaBrecque, in 2003; and niece, Heather Freeman, in 2007.
Surviving are her daughters, Kellie Mangan of Camillus, Shannon (Jeff) Dunbar of Lansing, and Colleen (James) Marasia of Syracuse; sister, Janis (Bob) Quirk of Camillus; brothers, Dennis (Mickey) Flynn of Downingtown, PA and Patrick (Suzanne) Flynn of Black River; grandchildren, Reagan Dunbar and Jameson Marasia; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ann's wish is for everyone to wear bright colors for her services to celebrate her life. Caribbean attire is encouraged.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, December 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Dennis Hayes officiating.
Contributions in Ann's memory may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
