"She goes from life to life." Ann Susan Stamey (nee Podvojsky), age 91, of Parma, Ohio peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Holy Family Hospice in Parma. She was born on August 17, 1929 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Susan Podvojsky (nee Churilla) and Albert Podvojsky. Ann was one of nine children raised in a traditional Roman Catholic family. She weighed just two pounds at birth and defied all the odds. She moved to Cleveland in the early 1960s where she enjoyed working in the offices of The Manger and Bond Court Hotels in downtown Cleveland. She met "Red," the love of her life, in their mutual apartment building hallway one morning. Ann and Red were married at St. Paul Catholic Shrine and had a daughter Nancie Jean. Ann, also known as "Mrs. Onassis" by those who loved her, will be fondly remembered for her resilient nature, sage advice, unique sense of humor, reviewing nightly Ohio and Pennsylvania three-digit lottery numbers with her baby brother Ed, and her loving, comical dynamic with her daughter Nancie, with whom she shared an incredibly special mother/daughter bond. Ann will also be greatly missed by family pet dog Khloe Rose, and parrot Madeline "Maddie." Ann is survived by her cherished daughter Nancie J. Stamey of Parma; beloved siblings Joseph Podvojsky (Dani) of Nashua, New Hampshire, Michael Podvojsky of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Edward Podvojsky (Eileen) of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews; and best friend Sally Visnick. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry "Red", her parents Susan and Albert, her siblings Mary, Bernadine, Margaret, Albert, and John; and lifelong childhood friend Bill Yurusek. Special thanks to Ann's caregivers Gerti and Aubrey for treating Ann just like family, and additional thanks and gratitude to Holy Family Hospice in Parma for their dedicated and compassionate care of Ann. Memorial contributions in Ann's memory may be forwarded to Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Road, Parma, Ohio 44134 www.staugministries.org. Private family services will be held at Busch funeral home, in addition to Catholic memorial service at Holy Family Hospice. Cremation by Busch Crematory.
