Anna helped me to believe there is nothing wrong with me. She was compassionate and genuine. I miss her every day and think of her each time a butterfly flutters above. She was truly amazing and I thank her family for bringing her into the world.

"Hey miss" was always what I'd say to her when we both went to our porches in Santa Rosa, CA to drink our morning coffees and do our morning routines. She updated us about Dharma, about her new jewelry and stones, about her days at the job, and in return she'd listen to ours. Anna was more than a neighbor, she became a friend very fast. One who we trusted with our secrets, and I with hers. I miss her... I know she's flapping her wings in a beautiful place right now.

John, LeAnne, and Andrew,
I just found out about this and wanted to express my condolences. I had the pleasure of knowing Anna and being her roommate my freshman year at Pitzer. I'll always remember all the color and life she brought to the room we shared. And I do mean literal color! She turned the space we shared into an art gallery with all the beautiful things that she collected! Her strong and warm spirit was evident upon my very first meeting with her. She was one of the most interesting, unique, and loving people I've ever met. And I'm so happy to hear that she earned her PhD in psychology and was able to help others struggling with mental illness. I am so sorry for your loss, but please know that I will always remember Anna and remember her fondly.

I went to Pitzer College with Anna a number of years ago. My first memory of her was my first day my freshman year when she marched down the hall and announced that Pitzer women looked out for each other, like she was going to look out for me. I got to know her and admire her over the course of that year, not only for her quick wit and great humor, but because we shared many struggles. This is such a heart breaking loss. My love goes out to her family.

I just stumbled upon this on google and my heart is broken. I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I will always remember Anna as being one of my first friends at MPS, her warm spirit, and what a beautiful dancer she was. I remember her dancing to "In the Arms of an Angel", a song that was special to her. Please know you, her family, are all in my thoughts and I will always remember Anna.

I am honored and blessed to have know and loved Anna. We spent countless hours together when we both attended Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. We travelled Europe together, danced in the Mojave desert, and swung in hammocks on Pitzer's mounds. I know she is resting in peace. I am so proud to have learned she completed her PhD in Psychology and was living her dream of helping others through Voice Dialogue and talk therapy. I feel I would not be the understanding and caring person I am today without Anna. I am affected deeply by her passing and my thoughts are with you, LeAnne and John. I will be visiting the butterfly pavilion at our botanic garden here in Albuquerque, NM to see our Anna one last time.

I am so saddened to hear of Anna's passing. I stumbled upon her obituary by chance and still cannot believe it. I have wonderful memories of Anna from high school and I am so happy to see that she became a therapist and earned her phD. Although we had lost touch, she continued to be in my thoughts. My condolences to your family.

Dear Doughertys, I was so saddened to hear of Anna's death. Her 5th grade English teacher, Mary Jellison, saw the obituary in the paper. We have spent the evening remembering Anna and looking through her activities in the Webb yearbooks. Anna and I crossed paths again just a few years ago at Concord United Methodist Church and we had such a nice visit. She was always a beautiful young woman, inside and out -- as a middle schooler, so mature. I have such fond memories of working with Anna and the girls on the cheerleading squad, but even more precious memories of the personal discussion that she and I had in my office at Webb. Just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this difficult time.

Anna was my Therapist here in her second home of Santa Rosa, CA. I was with her for about a year. I called her my sweet Anna. I couldn't imagine anyone else that was more perfect for me. We laughed, I cried-everything that people do in the therapy rooms. She gave me a calendar book that I've used diligently and now will cherish. And she also gave me a magnet note pad for my refrigerator with an N on the top.
I loved bringing her my birds of paradise that have been blooming. Now I will always think of her as my Bird of Paradise. Please know I loved her very, very dearly. My deepest condolences to the Dougherty family .

Dear LeAnne and John,
Words can not express the sadness over Anna's death. She was a darling tow headed toddler when we first met her and as you always said, LeAnne, she had an old soul. We cherish the memories of a precocious vivacious, little girl running along the beach who grew up to be a beautiful, accomplished professional. She was charismatic, so creative, and wrote beautifully. I remember she and I getting ready for her prom. We put butterflies in her hair. She looked like an angel. She had such a wonderful presence and spirit, we will all miss but we will carry forward with us. Our deepest sympathy. Love Margo and John
