NEW BEDFORD — Anna Thomas, 80, of New Bedford died February 10, 2008 at Taber Street Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Michael and Rachael (Jacob) Thomas, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church and a member of St. Joseph's Sodality.

Miss. Thomas was formerly employed by several local clothing manufacturing facilities until retirement.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to Lebanon.

Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Thomas, and his wife Margaret, and Joseph Thomas, and his wife Norma, all of New Bedford; 5 nieces, Rosemary Twomey, and her husband Frederick, of Dartmouth, Patricia Thomas, Joan Thomas-Mello, and her husband Michael Mello, Sarah Thomas, and her husband Nigel Hitchings and Rachael Higgins, and her husband Daniel, all of New Bedford; a nephew, Michael J. Thomas, and his wife Kelly, of New Bedford; 4 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.

She was the sister of the late Mary Hardin.

Her Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Purgatory Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
