Anne Benson Blanchette

Anne Benson Blanchette (née Rae), 73, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Seneca, South Carolina. Born on December 10, 1951, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Anne lived a vibrant life enriched by family, friendships, and a deep appreciation for beauty.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Anne's passion for interior decorating was evident in the thoughtful design of her homes, each space adorned with art she collected over the years.

Anne was an avid tennis player for many years, enjoying the camaraderie and friendships formed on the court. In later years, she embraced golf with enthusiasm, often sharing stories of well-placed drives and memorable long putts. She also held a lifelong devotion to University of Michigan football, celebrating with joy when the Wolverines secured the National Championship during the 2023-2024 season.

Her signature black sun visor and sunglasses-worn both indoors and out-became a beloved part of her presence to those who knew her.

Anne is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold "Hal" (Bud) Blanchette; her daughters, Blaire Thomas and Drew Blanchette; and was affectionately known as Chee Chee to her grandchildren: Holly (6), Camden (4), Cooper (1), and Brynn (1). She is also survived by her sister Laura Stapleton; brothers-in-law Robert Stapleton and Michael Blanchett; sister-in-law Jill Blanchett; son-in-law Grant Thomas; and nieces and nephews Robby and Trevor Stapleton, Reid and Deric Blanchett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Rae, M.D., and Edith "Tad" Lynch Rae.

Anne will be remembered for the beauty she brought into the world, the love she shared so freely, and will be in our hearts forever.
